I Backed 0 - 0 when the score was 1 - 0 precisely because a team scored.
Do you not see the absolute stupidity of this statement? A team has scored...you then BET ON THERE BEING NO GOALS IN THE MATCH. Yes the odds were 999/1 on it ending 0-0, and yes you could take a few pounds, say 5, of profit made by laying 0-0 and back it for a potential 5000 win...BUT it's totally pointless! You're just throwing away 5 backing an impossible result! It sounds like you're attempting to green up on bets that you've already 100% definitely won! |

Hi Guys,
I'm amazed at so much skepticism! All you had to do to prove me wrong was follow the Portsmouth v Chelsea match which has just finished! I made a profit on this match doing exactly as I outlined above. Did you? The Draw (Back) finished at 1000. So you could have Layed this game @ 4.00 and Backed it @ 1000. After the second goal was scored by Chelsea I watched the Bck odds go from 7.0, 120, 240, 500, 540 to 1000. At any point you could have cashed in! Aziraphale, Sorry to disagree with you. You CAN use the vast profit on the Draw to "green up" whether the odds are 8.00, 100 or 1000. I know, I just done it! Ring Betfair, they'll confirm it! Remember, this is an Exchange not a Bookies. Therefore, if another Betfair punter wants to offer you odds of 1000 on the Back then it's your choice whether or not to accept it! IanP, I did Back Chelsea for The Draw when they went 1 - 0 up. That's how I made a profit. I wish now I'd left it until the 90 min when it became 1000 instead of the safe 8.00 which I took! lol TigerTiger, I'll answer the latter part of your post, 'how will you make thousands if it is not a draw?' Fair question, one of the few tonight and thankyou for not hurling insults! You would make thousands if, big IF, it was a draw and you didn't green up. You would still make a very lot of money for a small stake if you greened up when the Back odds were on offer @ 1000. IanP, Steven's letter does indeed suggest you wait until the draw is 0 - 0 at HT. Why, to get 'value' from the bet! You're right, I haven't done that and had your read and absorbed my posts above you would have learnt that I prefer to Lay teams before the match. Why I choose to do that has already been explained. I didn't pay anything for Steven's advice as I had already worked out this method of betting from observation. His letter was useful for educational purposes to back up my argument. I have since read elsewhere of yet another variation on this method, so it's no big secret! Stephen's using the old mackeral to catch a sprout routine, well know in advertising! As for your remark that he can come up with another strategy for you at a price, I'm sure you're right. After all, he's introduced you to his method here today and had you followed this FREE advice this afternoon on the Liverpool v Man U match you could have at least covered his subscription! Dino :o) |

Yes you could have layed the draw at 4...and the game didn't end in a draw, so you would of course win. However that's it, job done. Your back bets were at such high odds because Chelsea had a 2-0 lead with seconds to go! Sure you can put a few quid on at massive odds but the only way you're going to get that money is if Portsmouth score twice and it finishes in a draw! Which it didn't! Yes you won, but only because you layed the draw and it wasn't a draw! Backing the draw didn't gain you anything! |
|
By:
Just to clarify, everyone here knows that you can lay an outcome (eg. the draw) and back it later at higher odds to guarantee a profit if the market moves that way.
My problem is that you seem to think laying the draw and then backing it at 999/1 with Chelsea 2-0 up with the match seconds away from full time would gain you anything. It wouldn't unless there was an amazing finish resulting in a draw. There is no trading opportunity at that point, you're throwing money away. |

But Dinosaur, if you want my email address to let me know what 0-0's you'll be backing after a goal is scored, I will happily lay all of them for you! ;) |

you're certainly confusing us Dino, going back to your original point the liability from unmatched bets counts against your total liability as they have the potential to be matched, and could thus take you over your limit for instance if you have 1k in my account and already have unmatched bets to that liability, if the system allowed me to place more bets there's a chance they could all get matched, if you place a bet which is unmatched and the event starts, then it can take a minute or 2 for the system to acknowledge that the bet no longer constitutes part of your liability.

you can check your exposure limit as it's in account summary under exposure linits, I believe the default used to be 5k and you need to ring up to increase it.
|
|
By:
the only time Betfair will allow you to bend the exposure limit is if you joined though the MSE affiliates scheme, these people are allowed to run up tens of thousands beyond their exposure and if they lose out Betfair will pay the debt of for them.
|

The MSE boys must have phoned Strutter Direct.

By:
mcclaren - the odd thing is, people *do* regularly and deliberately back 999-1 impossible outcomes. it's a kind of 0.1%, 60 minute loan to carry on betting in an IP market.
nice to lay, if you've got a big enough bank and can get your money up quick enough. none of which changes the fact that this guy's a screaming tool. |

Hi Guys,
I see you that many of you continue to choose to hurl insults. Did you know that you don't build yourself up by tearing others down? Perhaps you need to think what you need to say before you post again? Ali Baba, I'm pleased to see this thread entertains you. But please, don't burst a blood vesssel on my behalf! lol Spanker, The best way to put a fire out is to starve it of oxygen. So unless you're something positive to contribute to this debate I'm ignoring you except to say that I have already addressed your question in detail. Please read before posting again. Aziraphale, You said; " No, he means "unsuspended", i.e. put back in play. Several times I have seen another goal scored before the market has been turned back in play on Betfair. It can take up to a minute for the market to return." Ok, point taken. This hasn't happened to me but if it did then I'd have to accept we are in the same situation at 1 - 1 as we were when it was 0 - 0. In such a situation I would have to see what the odds were and re-evaluate my position. I can't be fairer than that. No madame I said jenas (love the handle! lol) If 'they' do have my letter pinned up in the office then perhaps one of the management or Mr Black would like to reply! They or him are very welcome to join in this debate which was intended to discuss the unfairness of the unmatched bet, but what the hell! lol Dear Deirdre, I'm impressed to READ you earned over 50k a year in 3 years. Well done! Perhaps you'd like to pass on a few tips to us mere mortals? Ummm, I thought not! Yours, Tulip XXX Hi Benji26, If you're still no clearer in knowing wtf I mean then leave it at that. Let's agree to disagree or beg to differ. Next time you lose, look me up and I promise to make you smile! :o) McLaren, You're a hard nut to crack! lol You totallly appear to have missed the simplicity of the betting method. I have TWICE today made a Trading Profit using this method of betting on Betfair. I even informed you in advance and gave all of you a TIP for the Portsmouth v Chelsea match. Did you take it or was your glass also half empty? You can't say, for definate, that a team has won simply because it is a goal up before FT. Many a game has gone into extra time when a team has equalised in the closing seconds! When offered a Back bet of 1000 after having Layed it earlier, it's prudent to GREEN UP just to be on the safe side. If McLaren you're confident that a team has definately won 100%, then that's your choice to NOT green up and accept the consequences. Regards your next post... Look back and READ my posts. I said I Backed the Draw after the 1st GOAL, not when the match was 2 - 0 in Chelsea's favour! To remind you, I Layed the Draw BEFORE the match started, then Backed The Draw AFTER Chelsea had scored 1 - 0. I trust that clarifies! Dino :o) |

dino you** you said you backed 0-0 when a goal had been scored, and I am pretty sure that a team cannot come from a goal down to draw 0-0, unless the rules have changed.
you said that one of these days you will make thousands with this system, but I have yet to see a game revert to 0-0 when a goal has been scored and allowed. you are providing a lot of amusement to many on here, but really you are just a moron. |

Hi Richard LL,
Thank you for coming back to me regarding my original point which is the 'unmatched bet rule is unfair'. The rest of you I'm going to ignore as you fail to see the point regarding 'method' betting and this discussion is going round in circles, becoming polarised and boring! Sorry Guys! lol This 'method' betting is clearly outlined in Stephen's letter and my posts do not require further debate. Still need answers? Read Stephens' letter! I've PROVED to you today, in advance, that you can make profits using this system. If you fail to grasp it's simplistic principles then that's your loss, not mine. Write to Stephen, tell him he's talking crap! With that I'll wish you all good night and speak to Richard. I'll be back in another thread! Hi Richard LL, I'm sorry if I've confused you! I do see Betfair's point to limit liabilty to stop gamblers placing unmatched bets which may affect them detromentally. Once again, I said I was talking about unmatched bets which are still on your account some time later but still within the set time period. i.e. You could. like I, wish to place a bet today but are NOT allowed to because you execeeded the set self-imposed limit imposed awhile ago and NOT applicable to today! Bets only have the potential to be matched whilst in play. I am referring to unmatched bets which remain in your account after the event, but which never-the-less effect your betting limit long after the event. You're correct in your example that; "for instance if you have 1k in my account and already have unmatched bets to that liability, if the system allowed me to place more bets there's a chance they could all get matched, if you place a bet which is unmatched and the event starts, then it can take a minute or 2 for the system to acknowledge that the bet no longer constitutes part of your liability." I don't disagree with you on this and thank you for your intelligent input. Best wishes, speak to all again soon! Dino :o) |

This is a hysterical fred.
Firstly, bcos this man has bought the FGS BS. What happened today if Portsmouth scored first? What happens if the BF staff** up and don't remove the suspended quick enough after the goal? Secondly, how naive other "non-believers are" that backing at 1000 for events that have already occurred do not realise this can help you green up. Also backing say the draw at 100 rather than 50/1 will help you green up because the market will always be 100%. The guy's an idiot but there's something benficial in this. |
