I am making a trip to "Asian Vegas" Macau next month and wondered if there were any locals who use this site who give me any pointers/advice about the best joints etc?

I was in Macau the other month. Went to an internet cafe and couldn't get betfair. Seemed a bit odd in a gambling mad place like that.

The locals will scare the **e out of you at the tables. They will have no qualms kicking you out of the way to get a bet on. Pre SARS they used spit on the floor but I think they have stopped that now. There are hookers everywhere in the major casinos and I mean everywhere. Don't make eye contact as they will literally run after you. I had some good fun at some of the smaller casinos.

i'll second that irishlad. i used to go to the lisboa reasonably regularly and it was an intimidating place. rowdy, noisy, but exciting as well. whenever i played blackjack there always seemed to be locals doubling up on my box, pretty scary when your sitting with 15 against a face card and some guys shouting behind you in cantonese and he's got about 10 times your stake riding on it.
was always a great day/night out though, plenty brazilian brass wandering around at that time as well, made a welcome change from the flippers in HK. no doubt its a lot different and more sanitised these days with the sands etc though.

you going to the 'old' Macau? with the older, more traditional colonial/chinese style casinos?

or the new 'Disneyland' Macau? with all the massive, glitzy franchises?

See http://www.wizardofmacau.com - good info there.

I was in Macau last year and had no problem logging onto Betfair from an internet cafe.
