Ok I know there are some good maths brains on here, need help with a question please as my mind has gone blank
The variables x and y are related by the differential equation (A):
x³(dy/dx) = xy + x + 1
a) use the substitution y = u - 1/x, where u is a function of x, to show that the differential equation may be written as:
x²(du/dx) = u
I've done this bit, for some reason my mind has gone TOTALLY blank tho for the second bit:
b) Hence find the general solution of the differential equation (A), giving your answer in the form y = f(x)
any help appreciated

absolute useless -- it always amazes me how these pathetic eq are in our education -PATHETIC
cheers boba, solved it. ended up with y = ke^(-1/x) - 1/x
