My new strategy for you is maybe try another sport, where you dont need to travel, with no expenses.
But most importantly try to increase your bank by 1% or 2% a day on average, this flies in the face of your attitude now, where you seem to need the thrills/rush of adrenaline? So obviously your bank £100 you win £1, bank £100 you win £1.01 (these are averages), if what you do is successful your bank £100,000 you win £1000 per day. My experience tells me thrill seekers like yourself rarely listen to me happy xmas. |

Worcester racecourse is the greatest of all for in running bets, il never disclose why, but used to make £400 there each day the races were there.
Why not just concentrate on this track then? Hell, I'd move there if I were you. Cheltenham just down the road, too. To me it sounds like you're not being completely honest with yourself. You say you blow all the winnings on chasing, but I wonder if your overall strategy/skill is not quite as good as you think it is, and that when the inevitable crash arrives you blame "chasing"? On another note, keeping expenses down should be paramount to everyone in business and life. All those little extras soon add up. Instead of a £50 meal stick to McDonald's @ £5. That extra money could be used to increase your overall wealth. It's the classic mistake of thinking that all millionaires live the high life, spending money like water. In fact, most millionaires are Scrooges - that's why they're millionaires (read "The Millionaire Next Door" book). Merry XMas. PS. If the horses don't work out, please consider the football markets - the most honest sport to bet on (top level only). |

I enjoyed reading your story, many things you have stated make sense and apply to myself, losing control when you have built a reasonable amount up,then doing it all in like a nutcase sounds exactly like me,something someone who his nearly 50 should have mastered by now.
I think your pesrsonal skill/edge should be something you stick with, but to move forward in 2010 try monitoring and keeping records of your bets on the computer and build graphs etc, this I think will bring discipline and help you move forward and hopefully bring bank growth if your system is of any value, this is something I am planning to do for the new year. Best of luck for the future,Merry Xmas (Keep Believing). |

Been there before so many times Thuggers :-(
Its not how many times you go down, its whether you keep on getting back up! Hope your 2010 is a more successful year for you :-) |

Very interesting read THUGGERS,nothing surprised me in your overall account.. You did I think touch on what I beleive is the key' Little and Often'
I should imagine the track players do have 1 disadvantage, that they cannot see the race unfold as well as you can on TV,esp if you are a good race reader. Many times I have spotted the likely winner with a circuit to go (fast pic/track players, prob not even noticed it yet) ie.1n at 20's free bet at 12, profit at around 6/7's . |

Interesting read, it sounds like your judgment is very astute. Your judgment is devalued with your lack of discipline and patience. Changing your behaviours is very difficult , if nye impossible thing to change ( you are who you are).
Bank roll managment is probably THE most important factor to becoming a succesful punter. Structured staking plans and reviewing your records to understand what is your most profitable betting stratedgy is a neccesity. do you have the discipline and patience to become a proftiable punter? I wish you the very best fortune in your endevours in 2010. |

Any system, however much of an edge it has, is only as good as its risk management. That's an absolute rule. The only way to come out on top with any system that doesn't employ proper stake discipline is to get out before it blows up.
Until and unless you figure out why you chase/overbet and find a way to stop doing it, you are guaranteed to repeat the same patterns you describe. How good your picks are is irrelevant to that fact. gl. |

I reckon this is just a betfair advert and the response form Million 1 is part of the game. Let's see how far this thread runs now ............................................................................... Little one, I can say that million1 is a genuine poster. I've talked to him on here on a few occasions. No idea about the guy who started the thread. Sounds like he needs to straighten his head out a little. Merry Xmas one and all! |
