This is a total disgrace, I have lost 1900 USD because of this outage and all betfair does is posting a short message to apologize!?! this is unbelievable, betfair should compensate the user who are affected with the outage, the word "sorry" has no value here. What's more unbelievable is I have to pay 300 pounds tomorrow for the premium charge cause I had winning week last week!!!! why the hell do I have to pay a premium charge if you can't even maintain your website and guarantee it being online!! this is a total disgrace

no back ups betfairian? Books/spreads or other exchanges

Not the point Buzz, Betfairian is spot on.

They should refund the Premium Charge when this happens as a gesture.

It's disgraceful.

I hope it happens during the cup final, then they'll really have some complaints on their hands

I think buzzer is spot-on. Sometimes you have to learn a lesson the hard way. I know that I have. Wesbites can only dream of the uptime that betfair has. If you're serious about this lark than you'll have back-up accounts. It's online, things go wrong.
Report buzzer December 15, 2009 12:27 PM GMT
we know it does happen more regularly than we would like and with betfairs term and conditions we should all realise we need back up. When it happened to me i made sure i was covered in future. I remember your thread when you didn't know if bets were matched or not which makes cover impossible but we know the risks and continue to play so we have to take all things into account when exposing ourselves to the markets and the betfair servers. Ideally premium charges should be waived when outages happen but we all know they wont do that so we take our chances or take our business elsewhere, good luck.

Unfortunately I agree with buzzer. If one is trading and leaving a large exposure, they should have back-up or options.

It might be betfair but it is also the internet as well as other factors that can cause problems, including ones set-up at home.

Like the poster, we have all learned the hard way. It is one thing to lose a few quid because of an outage. It is another if your bank gets slammed.

Even if the phones go dead, I have willy and p-power gang a nine and twelve minute jog away if necessary.

"Unfortunately I agree with buzzer" reads badly :)

I meant to say that "I agree with buzzer"

You need to factors these possibilities in when you place your bets. The idea of Betfair refunding your premium charge over this is laughable. They simply won't do it.

It's a very annoying situation to be in though. Two weeks ago I lost £6k and had to pay £500 PC the next day.

If BF will refund all the greedy f*ckers who 'lost' out on the first goal scorer MSE breakdown, they should surely refund anyone who lost out through no fault of their own?

Disgusting. I'd be looking at court action.

My grammar is useless when I'm shaking with rage.

If anything should be refunded it should be the bets on the fixed match FK Baku - Ekranas from 21 July '09!! :D

In the hundreds of matches I've bet on, I've never seen a more obvious**than that.

He can have some news on the match from me. I have had multiple bets voided on this market that simply shouldn't have been. However, this is the other side to the coin and its certainly not worth losing sleep over.

im convinced its something to do with the trace routes of the servers being used by betfair. There are major timeouts happening at servers in dallas and atlanta. This would explain why only certain customers in certain areas are affected.
Report Eddie the eagle December 17, 2009 1:08 PM GMT
I had big problems around 9.00 - 9.30 , but it's worked perfectly after that.
Report Moon Light December 17, 2009 2:06 PM GMT
I think they've outsourced their servers on the QT.
