Trying to green up on the Selby v Cope snooker match

stuck a lay in at 1.55 for £112, unmatched, went to 'my bets' tab - the bet was there five times

got matched and cancelled remaining four, here the details of cancelled bets:

Look at the ref numbers, I'm using the normal betfair browser not an api, it's physically impossible for me to manually submit five lays that close together

Anyone else had similar problems?

Happened to me years ago. About a minute from the off I submitted one bet of £300 @ 8.0 ended up getting it 5 times all matched (must've been a non-trier or sweating up or something). Settled for half my money back as I wouldn't have complained if it had won.

no gadgets, programs or anything

a bloke trying to submit a single bet is all

akin to me asking for a ton on horse at the bookies and they ringing the bet thru six times, all well and good with feck's example about if the horse won, but that's not really the point is it

You could try downloading one of the free of charge trading tools as a workaround.

I have had this occasionally placing bets via the api, although not for a while. there as no user inout to mine so it could not have been interface problems - I always suspected an obscure database error. I'd recommend sending the betids into the helpdesk for investigation.

in the seven and a half yrs i've been here i've found the forum a far better solution to any problems than the helpdesk, but an e-mail has gone - for what it's worth

can only be a database/betfair error, physically impossible for me to have sumbitted those bets without a bot/api

I'm beginning to wonder once again if it could be a mouse problem, doing double-clicks & treble-clicks.
It's odd that it's only you (apparently) and two different browsers.
By:

When: 06 Dec 09 21:41
For a fair amount of time it was possible to place repeat bets on google chrome using the enter key. Took a long time for them to even acknowledge the problem let alone**it so if it has returned then I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it to get back to 'normal'.
By:

interesting that Curly, sticking with firefox for time being and no dramas last hr or so..
By:

When: 06 Dec 09 22:03
A temporary workaround could be to enter bets at uncompetitve prices and then change price. If you got multiple bets created they wouldn't be matched.
By:
CurlyBlues
When: 06 Dec 09 22:15
Just tried to recreate the situation using google chrome and it has indeed returned.

So, unless it is a different problem to the one I have found in the past, you will need to either a) slow down your bet entry and only push the enter key the correct number of times or b) use a different piece of software.

I wouldn't waste your time trying to raise the issue with the 'help'desk because they won't be interested.

Odd, I've only ever found problems when using Chrome, doubling my exposure most of the time, dangerous game!

If there is a problem with chrome, forward to betfair. They will work on it at their end to adapt to the browser.

I've noticed this has been happening occasionally in recent weeks with Firefox. For some reason there seems to be a bug within this site and that browser (since these upgrades). These instances seem to happen in those slight "hanging" periods.

I and a few others had the same problem a few times a couple of years ago and I was using IE at the time. Haven't had that problem since though neither on IE nor firefox.
I can't remember if there was a solution , but I think the problem just stopped without us doing anything.

IMO, could be some sort of spyware program, which could 'refresh' your page and therefore be submitting your bets twice.

Download this

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button

Malwarebytes, its a really good program to get rid of crap. Do a FULL scan and let us know what it finds. At the end, make sure every item is ticked and click 'clear selected'. Restart and hopefully program will be gone.

Just to clarify the situation earlier this year. For approximately 3 months this problem existed within Chrome, and it took the best part of 10 weeks for Betfair to even acknowledge it existed. I have subsequently deleted correspondence but on multiple times I was assured that I had simply had a bet partially and evenly matched (as if I wouldn't know the stake I was attempting to place). I was also at one point told to "add www.betfair.com to my trusted sites on Internet Explorer".

So, whilst if you raise the issue with the helpdesk they may well help you, I would certainly suggest that you explore some alternatives while you wait.

ran that program jimbo, took it's time must say, found these:

adaware.zango
spyware.password
rogue.antimalware
rogue.antimalware
rogue.antimalware
malware.trace

cleared em, re-booted. let's see..

today i've used only firefox and encountered no problems

the helpdeask btw have passed it on the relevant dept

tx to everyone for their input here, cheers

spyware.password sounds particularly nasty.

Once again just for reference I ran Malwarebytes and got the following report:
Scan type: Full Scan (C:\|D:\|)
Objects scanned: 266604
Time elapsed: 1 hour(s), 50 minute(s), 11 second(s)

Memory Processes Infected: 0
Memory Modules Infected: 0
Registry Keys Infected: 0
Registry Values Infected: 0
Registry Data Items Infected: 0
Folders Infected: 0
Files Infected: 0

However I can still replicate the problem on Google Chrome. The error definitely lies in the site being used on the application somewhere; It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to run Malwarebytes anyway though.

Can you reproduce this reliably? If so, forwarding details of exactly how it is triggered will greatly speed up betfair's response. I heard of a similar problem (with lays also) two weeks ago from a friend, also a firefox user.

What version of windows are you running?

Actually I had a wierd problem on IE 6 last night where on sites (not just betfair) a page would refresh every second automatically, as if the BF auto refresh script had gone haywire. Working fine now though...
By:
fork in hell
When: 09 Dec 09 13:52
suspected the betfair refresh script for a while, but of course with google chrome you can't use it
