Are you looking for the cash investment or the expertise? There are a lot of experts about but not many with the cash to back up their opinion. Be careful who you listen to and take who yu take on board. Good Luck with your venture. P P

I was presuming the benefits of a syndicate are obvious. In financial terms, using a syndicate will increase the number of markets we bet on which will in turn reduce the standard deviation in our profit. Keeping the SD low is a key element in professional gambling. It not only helps when organising expenditure and paying mortgages etc it also helps mentally. I think it is quite obvious that people would rather earn £50K a year than £10K year 1 70K year 2 25K year 3 95K year 4 etc etc.
as for a cv and proven track record. We are looking for genuine people who have good employment records (do not need to be employed now but at some point in the past) as we are looking for people with business minds, good mathmatical skills and can communicate etc etc etc. Obviously a proven track record is essential. We have 3 years of betting proof with betfair that shows our ROI throughout. Our turnover is currently approx £750,000 pa. It is not essential to have complete financial backing and is not essential to turnover anything close to these figures although the bigger the better. We can anaylse any liquidity issues so the most important factor is the ROI. It must be proven over a large number of bets and over a timescale of at least 2 years |

because traditionally those people are great pro gamblers. |

An 'Allrounder' who has previosuly been employed and had a good employment record may well be less inclined to go off the rails and may deal with the swings in p/l better.
Just trying to swerve the young guys who have come straight from college and have experienced a great run but have yet developed enough skills to deal with the low points in professional gambling. A guy like 'Durr' in the poker world is an example of someone I am trying to avoid. He may well have a fantastic skill level but other personality traits are important. We want solid, experienced and mentally strong individuals. This is not to say we would not get involved with young mavericks but it is not our ideal business partner. |

or they may not. In fact, I'd say that people who are used to an income as opposed to people who have gambled all their life are going to handle swings badly. or they may not. Either way it seems pretty daft to ask for a CV for a pro gambler. Gamblers by their nature don't fit into nice little boxes. FWIW Dwan would be able to muller anything he put his mind to and although I understand your point, you couldn't have picked a worse example. |

I tried something similar a couple of years ago. Around 15 people applied. Today I exchange tips with two of them but they are quality.

No one with any sense will join, trust issues aside anyone smart enough to win will make this assessment:
I am only of use to the rest of the syndicate if they are able to get more from me than they have to give to me. Therefore, if they want me I'm better off out. |

you haven't got intouch yet mate. my 100k is sitting in a current account gaining a measly 0.1% interest.

What's to stop this "syndicate" from stealing all my ideas/profits and not giving anything back in return.
If I am already earning good money, with a measurable and relatively steady volatility, and it is only a question of my scaling up my bet size over time, then why would I need to join any syndicate and give away my secrets ? All downside and no upside imo, except for losers and bludgers. |
|
By:
Our syndicate does not steal or even look at your programmes/simulators if you do not want us to. Its primary function is to lower the SD of individuals profit while having no adverse affect on the mean profit.

Fair enough if I need my SD to be lowered in the first place.
You sound genuine and I wish you all success in your endeavours to spread your risk so to speak. |
