With paper attempts to use KELLY CALCULATOR for betting on horse races, the following results were obtained -
ATTEMPT 1 : LOSS of 1,000 points
ATTEMPT 2 : PROFIT of 1,107 points
So over all with paper bank made a small profit on threads ......as was posting early on here selections , then had I not been doing that the over all profit would have been at least 500 points more.
Yesterday was using a small money bank to use KC on some races and made a small profit of £23.19
from STARTING MONEY BANK of £338.63.
So as now using money to bet, it is best to have a separate thread.
Will post selections shortly............and will be not initally be doing FULL KELLY STAKING......but after a run of say 20 losses, I will increase the proportion of KELLY STAKING used, as it is a reasonable thing to do when "confident" returns will be obtained EVENTUALLY.

I'm feeling a bit like the way i did yesterday ...knackered !!!! Yesterday I chucked away all the £50 profit on last 4 races........and as today i am "tired" again.....I will stop now apart from 1 more race ....as now £68 for day and that will do :D
Last race will be the 3.00 one....away for break!
Dread to think how much profit wrote off IR today :(
Written off profit IR was £127 approx...........:( ....may have to re-think such write offs...

Drop the football and concentrate on the horses. With the amount of racing, it's virtually impossible to put enough time into both sports.

I've known for sometime that I do have "problems" with football betting due to not accepting a LOSS will possibly be made once something occurs in match that goes against the main bet. I know that this is ridiculous way to bet.......and I HAVE GOT TO STOP PUTTING MUCH MONEY INTO FOOTBALL BETS, AND ALSO THAT I MUST STICK TO MAIN BET ONLY, as I believe I can win on football bets IF I CONTROL THE WEAKNESS ABOVE.
Generally my football knowledge is "good" .....but when above happens I can run up a big loss in one match, then there is a tendency to CHASE after that loss in next game ( I do not normally do this with horse race bets , as at the odds I back at losses will happen frequently.)

Currently waiting til funds in place to enable a proper go at horse racing bets..........have so many strategies that appear to "work" that I need to decide which one/ones I will concentrate on .......so currently checking out which strategies to tackle from December 6th onwards.
Football will be only for SMALL stakes fun bets only........................Does not take too long to pick a MAIN BET in matches.............................and the main time is taken up at night, when generally I like to switch off on horse racing bets ( night racing seems to have poor liquidity and for laying purposes is NOT worth doing with some of lay strategies).
AS I also have some WORK :( to do between now and 6th December ....possibly up to 11th December......then I probably won't do too many bets in Decemeber...

I know that this is ridiculous way to bet.......and I HAVE GOT TO STOP PUTTING MUCH MONEY INTO FOOTBALL BETS, AND ALSO THAT I MUST STICK TO MAIN BET ONLY, as I believe I can win on football bets IF I CONTROL THE WEAKNESS ABOVE.
Generally my football knowledge is "good" .....but when above happens I can run up a big loss in one match, then there is a tendency to CHASE after that loss in next game ( I do not normally do this with horse race bets , as at the odds I back at losses will happen frequently.)

Currently waiting til funds in place to enable a proper go at horse racing bets..........have so many strategies that appear to "work" that I need to decide which one/ones I will concentrate on .......so currently checking out which strategies to tackle from December 6th onwards.
Football will be only for SMALL stakes fun bets only........................Does not take too long to pick a MAIN BET in matches.............................and the main time is taken up at night, when generally I like to switch off on horse racing bets ( night racing seems to have poor liquidity and for laying purposes is NOT worth doing with some of lay strategies).
AS I also have some WORK :( to do between now and 6th December ....possibly up to 11th December......then I probably won't do too many bets in Decemeber...

Similar to ATTEMPT 2 thread .......as I never used FULL KELLY staking or had the advantage of taking BF SP odds compared to odds grabbed EARLY due to running this thread........then substantial additional profit would have been made as follows -

As STARTING BANK was £370.08 on this thread , I trust even lee h2 will note that ,because I ran this thread and was posting EARLY , over a 4 day period such a £ 980.99 , before commission, difference has a huge effect on ROI etc..........
Over the 4 days on this thread I only made Horse Racing: £112.19, less £30 TOTE bets due to the two factors above and also due to me writing off too much profit IR............................:(
So IMO using KELLY STAKING CALCULATOR is fine.........provided you can keep picking winners at value odds..............It is possible the BANK could be lost though, however the high profit returns should compensate for losing a bank occasionally
The longest losing run was only 16 ........on ATTEMPT 2 thread........and over 4 days with money the longest losing run was 9.............................however, it is very likely that i will have longer losing runs, but from the results on ATTEMPT 2 paper thread going through the 16 losing run was not too bad ( psychologically ) though bank was down 500 from starting bank at the lowest point. After the low point the bank trebled in size, even though I was not obtaining the benefit of the higher odds at BF SP etc......
Probably a 4 bank system for using KELLY on FULL STAKES would be how I could operate....though 8 banks would be more prudent........as losing 1 bank will happen, and you need a number of banks available if using FULLY KELLY staking on HORSE RACING.......so this is what I will be using for backing purposes in due course ( 8 banks).
In 4 days on this thread there were 14 winners out of 49 races .....................over 4 days......On ATTEMPT 2 thread there were 17 winners from 110 bets.........................this is probably a more realistic level of performance I can expect.
