I only disagree with what I think is incorrect, and to make a sweeping statement like you will ''only win by locking profits'' is patently wrong. What's wrong with staying with a good position ?
|
|
By:
"whenever you can" I said to lock in profits.........I didn't stay "you will only win by locking in profits"
|
|
By:
"whenever you can" I said to lock in profits
You think it's always better to lock in a profit rather than stay with your bet ? At what point do you lock in the profit ? Example, you back unders at, say 1.80 when would you 'lock in your profit'' assuming no goal, at 1.75, 1.70, 1.65 or when ? |
|
By:
When to lock in profit - i guess there's a different answer from most punters ????
|
|
By:
Kwijibo, I agree, but some people just say ''lock in a profit'' where possible, and I thnk that is plainly wrong.
|
|
By:
depending on circumstances Kenilworth..............how not to trade out on my thread is Liverpool now.......a good example is NY Giants last night................protecting the bank is the main objective
if you have an evens bet and you have the opportunity to lock in 66% profit when the game looks tight and could go against you..............this is a time |
|
By:
Getting a 66% profit takes a bit of doing and everything depends on the price IMO. Backing at evens requires a lay of 1.20, laying at evens requiring a back at 6.0, and for me the price has to be right at the time. It shouldn't be closing at any price. GL.

Bet 1 - Liverpool v Birmingham 1 or more goal £10 @ 1.06 Won
next bet £10.57 Thanks for all the comments they make interesting reading. I will continue this challenge bt obviously it can not go on forever, therefore does anyone know how many bets it would take to reach £100 by going all in on each bet? obviously the odds will differ slightly but an approximate figure would be great. VL :) |

use this calculator
http://www.math.com/students/calculators/source/compound.htm where you see: YEARS (read "nº of bets") PERCENT YIELD (read "average odds") INITIAL BALANCE (same) MONTHLY CONTRIBUTION (leave at zero) hope it helps ;) |
|
By:
by the way you need 29 bets to make £100 at an average odd of 1.08
|
|
By:
feck forgot about comission
so a few more bets then around 30/31 bets if average odds of 1.08 0.05*8=0.4 8-0.4 = 7.6 (real average odds minus comission 1.076) |
|

Hey Lusitano71..thanks very much for that, much appreciated :)

Video_Lounge, I think you are taking the p!ss out of everyone and you have only been here 5 days. Well done !!

By:
Hi Kenilworth,
I'm not sure where you are coming from, why would I want to take the** out of anyone? I'm just trying these challenges out.. sorry if I have offended you :( |
|
By:
dont worry VL there are tons of guys like this here just learn to ignore them when they dont have nothing constructive to say
and if you dont have the feeling you offended anyone, DONT SAY SORRY |
|
By:
video, you just seem incredibly naive which made me think you are on the wind up. You haven't offended me in any way and I hope I haven't offended you. GL.
|
|
By:
but I think there is value in every price,...incorrect...but betting such short odds on their own is a very hard way to make a profit................you also need to trade out (GREEN) whenever you can to lock in profits. If you don't trade out - you might as well bet with bookmakers................
Nonsense, if you lock in profit by taking bad value bets its not as profitable in the long term as leaving your positions open. |
|
By:
Hi Kemilworth,
Why naive ? Anyway not to worry :) I'm off to pick the next selection. |

Video, perhaps if you read your own posts you will understand my thoughts. Anyway, it seems you're not offended and besides, being even a little naive doesn't make you a bad person. :)

By:
some people play open attacking betting, some play a defensive protecting bank game...........tactics are different, no right or wrong answer people.............if you never trade out, why bet on here?
|
|
By:
why bet on here? The same reason as backing with the books. Where ever the price is best.

word of advice
when and if you make it to £25/£30 take half or 1/3 and resume, you will know that you're on a free ride, no chance of losing your own money, that will give you a better frame of mind to continue betting then make a plan regarding your bankroll management 1 or more goal markets are too risky to compound all the way, all leagues vary from 18% to 3% of 0-0 results so having a run over 20/30 bets its already good keep withdrawing money or it will all be gone in one bet |
|
By:
better word of advice
look for bigger prices and use % of bank stakes |

Hi Lusitano,
I was thinking the very same thing,I will try and get to 15 correct selections and then withdraw all but my starting £10...and then start all over again, as you say, sooner or later a 0-0 will be hit. Thanks for the advise VL :) |
