Thoughts usually come from processes of the mind, yours is still in the embryonic stages.

The price that stuck out to me was odds against Spurs top 6, should be 4/7 IMO.
Report mecca August 21, 2026 6:22 PM BST
West Ham v Millwall will be fun in next season's premier league

Why are people desperate to back Brentford below 300 Confused, £40 wanting them @290
Report duffy August 21, 2026 7:30 PM BST
I think 20's for Spurs is about right, 34 is too big, they have potential for massive improvement with their signings.IMO

The five sides behind Arsenal could easily finish in any order.
Report tobermory August 21, 2026 7:39 PM BST
I just can't see it.

£100M for Tonali from a team that finished bottom half. And he never looked like Newcastle's best player to me.

£85M Fernades who has just been relegated. Savinho not wanted by City

I see Spurs somewhere between 8th and 12th
Report tobermory August 21, 2026 7:42 PM BST
though 12th place would actually be 'a massive improvement'!

title contention would be a Leicester type miracle

I just layed them in the handicap a@15. They would need to hit Peak Poch level to have a shot, when the new signings have to drag them up from Christian Gross level.
Report tobermory August 21, 2026 7:44 PM BST
DeZerbi could be a success for them long term tbf but I'm surprised by the expectations so soon.
Report duffy August 21, 2026 7:47 PM BST
I had this last year arguing pre season on the title thread about United going from 15th to top 6 is a miniscule jump where everyone could only see the literal distance between 15th and 6th, so it is for Spurs, with their spending power that they have exercised, I think Tonali and Fernandez are good signings, Maddison and Kulusevski coming back, potentially Marmoush, Van Hecke, a massive upside for me.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- August 21, 2026 8:13 PM BST
Tonali is a lovely player, who never quite got to play in his best position at Newcastle.

Surprised to see he's put on a few pounds, as he always looked super fit at Newcastle, but likely he sheds those.

Quite possible he thrives at spurs if he takes to the place, but suspicion is he wants to return to Italy.

The reason I have the filth in 5th is because they don't have European football, that is a big advantage for any teams Premier League campaign, not having to play weekend/midweek/weekend/midweek, especially now the CL groups stages are prolonged til the end of Janurary, then maybe another 2 games on top for the CL play offs. It also means there's much less chance of injuries and well as fatigue. They've also made some half decent signings which are improvements on what they had.

United on the other hand now have European football on top of their league season, Carrick benefitted from not having that last season during their charge towards qualifications, they played around 40 games all year and it helped them massively making top 4.

Moreover, their team looks bang average to me, and they've made no real significant signings, how can a Man United team also go into a new season with Zirkzee and Tesco Sesko as their forwards? Average team and extra games means I can't see them in the top 5.

Kind Regards.
Report duffy August 22, 2026 12:16 PM BST
Agree with most of that mes, you can also throw in the fact that we've got the same back four for the most of it that we had a few years back.

I do think that Sesko is decent but we are already seeing a pattern of injury with him and we just don't have another centre forward, for all that Cunha and Mbuemo can play there you lose from them what they are really good at in other deeper positions when they have to fill in for him.

All twitter seems to think is that the midfield rebuild was successful because it was done on the cheap, because United have a history of chucking big money at rubbish they don't seem to recognize that sometimes players are worth paying big money for.

To my eyes United haven't landed one target, Tielemans they tripped over and realizing he was cheap bought him to placate the fans after they'd missed Anderson and Fernandez, Santos is strictly a gamble, could be a bargain or a bust and Baleba, far from United getting him cheaper, the price reflects what he is now, injured and a questionable attitude after a sulky season.

None of that screams sensible spending....but here's hopingGrin
