1700's are tough cookies but I'll plough through them eventually.

Reached 1800, took 251 games, 169 wins, 12 draws and 70 losses, all excluding the two banned players.

Apparently it's the beginning of advance level online, don't know how, everyone still blundering up here including me, blundered a pawn in the last end game losing a 4pt advantage but his bishop was overworked so still won, he abandoned the game.

Signed in this morning to another message of an opponent cheating, refunded 8 points, I knew that guy was up to no good even though I mouse slipped twice.

I just had a bishop + knight endgame which is rare and I have looked at home to mate with just those two pieces before, but it's long winded and I had a spare p&wn anyway.

Is there a chess engine that shows you the best moves as you’re playing? I’m aware of Nextmovechess, but that would be no good playing ten minute games. You’d run out of time before you put each players moves in.

there's an analysis button, you press it after the game when it appears, then the eval bar on the left shows you the strength of your position as each move is played, with the best move told on the right hand side of the screen

tbh thinking of stop playing soon, they are constantly pairing me with accounts joined 1 minute ago, I abort and then get paired against another player who just joined beating players in less than 20 moves every game.

How are accounts one minute old able to play someone of your rating? Surely they start at the bottom? They’d have to win sixty odd games before they got paired with you.

pretty sure I can get to 1900 having faced a fare few 1800's, beat one 1900, though it says he was '1893', which is silly as that's what his rating was after our match not before. Will be a grind though, one thing you notice as you go through each hundred so to speak, is that they tend to take more time per move, i.e making less mistakes whereas I'm just blitzing moves out as I'm not used to slow chess but somehow getting by on instinct and a bit of knowledge.

I don’t think you did. I tried the five minute game earlier. When I sent you an invite it did it for five minutes so I cancelled it quickly. Then tried again and it paired me against someone else. I had to abort that game!

It was a long grind but got to 1950 in the end, 50pts from 2000, if I reached that I'd knock this Rapid chess on the head, like watching paint dry waiting for players to move, how people play classical chess sitting there over a table for 3, 4, 5 hours at a time I'll never know. Kind Regards.

another banned player this morning, that's 6 in total, there was another one but I won that game after he abandoned it, lost 4 straight games this morning, only second time I've lost more than 3 in a row, then I realised what was differnt, had no music playing in my earphones

Started off talking about sandbagging, then moved on to how I was handpicking new accounts which a) is impossible and b) is the last thing you'd want to do, and now says if if I don't do puzzles 'I'm suspicious'

Turn it in you absolute mug, you've played nearly 8000 Rapid games in 6 years, your puzzles are getting you nowhere for a reason, they are useless, you do not learn anything or get the same positions in your own games from them. It's a feature for chess.com to rake in money from subs and ad revenue. Incidentally, AI also says 1950 player for 5 min puzzle rush, 'ranges between 30 and 40'. So I would also be impressed by anyone under 2000 getting over 40.

There is no meteoric rise either, I've been playing for years as a guest mostly, only made this account to play some of you on here. My original account is for personal use, friends, family, not wallys on the internet like you to stalk me.

You need to learn to analyse your games, you are still at beginner level which is ridiculous, press the analysis button after games and click through the moves, the engine tells you what the best move was, you then try to understand why it was, that's how you learn.

Anymore of this nonsense and you'll be back on the block button for the next 8 years.

Kenbo that guy told me he was using his account as a training account which wasn't true, he was flat out using an engine that's why he was banned. Chess.com closes over 100,000 accounts every month. Probably using AI these days to catch them as well.

I'm also happy to give you a few pointers and actual practical advice/help if you want, not meant in a patronising way.

I’m not bothered about improving. I’m happy enough being down the bottom end. When you’re playing players of the same quality as you it’s still a battle.

When I first started playing I looked up opening moves on YouTube. I found the Fried Liver Attack and that’s been my opening ever since. Never made an opening move that wasn’t king pawn forward two spaces! It’s a frustrating game at times and you can see why it sent some players mad.

I probably need to look up how to respond to a few opening moves. I’m in trouble sometimes after three moves. Responded exactly as they wanted and got stuffed!

Just beat a 2000 who tried playing the Stafford Gambit against me, at least he was 2000 when the game starts, his peak rating was nearly 2200.

Trying to get from 1950-2000 is hard, but doable.

I just watched you against Mohammed. Your dignity went out the window there. He was 31 points ahead, mocking you, and you kept offering draws. I might be garbage but I’ve got the good grace to resign rather than prolong the inevitable!

I offered him those draws as I thought he was taking the pee putting his pieces back on original squares, and looked like he was up to no good, would not be surprised if pts were refunded tomorrow.

Kenbo that account had less than 150 games played and all were unrated, never played rated before, it was set up to play family/friends.

actually just checked, looked like I did play 34 games rated, 6 of them banned that's what annoyed me, this site is filth, 100,000 a month closed

There’s nothing wrong with some fighting spirit. We do need to know when to throw in the towel though. He was mocking you every time he advanced a Pa wn. I assume he retreated all his pieces to avoid the stalemate that you were after.

I was allowing him to do that, otherwise I could have resigned, I never resign. Only have to look at my loss record, zero resigns, it teaches you nothing, and does not build that fight you need, even in completely lost positions it's good to carry on as stalemate is possible too. The only reason I kept offering draws was as said, he was trolling by under-promoting and putting all his pieces back on original squares.

I would never do the same thing over the board, that would be pointless. Completely different etiquette and situation in general.

exactly Ken, they go on forever, when my opponents taking ages I do other things, including getting up to make a cup of tea then come back to see I'm low on time, really you're supposed to think on your opponents time.

Where have you been playing chess, Mes? If you’ve got less than 200 games on your other account yet got to 2000 so quickly on here, you’ve obviously put the hours in elsewhere?

Played loads of games as a guest on chess.com and lichess, mostly lichess in recent times.

Over 2000 Rapid and Bullet, in bullet I'm 43,000 out of 17 million players

was over 2000 Blitz but will climb by way back up. Need to brush up my old tricks and traps, also played too many games this morning and lost concentration.

I prefer Lichess. Now I’ve got an account here though I don’t bother with Lichess. I suppose a rated game is more enjoyable than a random vs anyone.

I definitely dont have your staying power... After a couple of games, I feel quite taxed...

On review, I gifted my queen at one point and I also missed 5 CM's in 1... I wont be improving beyond what I am..

a month of playing Rapid has affected my blitz skills, players playing 100mph to win on time, taking me time to re-train by blitz brain, will get to 2000 in the end but 1700/1800's are all pretty adept in every aspect of the basics of chess, no free wins.
