In the knockouts in the last world cup, he only scored Penalties against Croatia, France and Holland, no open play goals. Before that, goals against Australia, Mexico and Saudi Arabia (Pen)

So really lots of goals, but in normal play against any top side, makes sense.

Cape Verde are a decent side. There have been a few much worse, imo.

The Messi goal was almost like a reposte to the Ronaldo disallowed one from last night, where Messi is saying, "That's how you do it by staying on side son"

Maradonna was before my time but I've watched untold footage of him, to me he looks more talented than Messi, his ball control and dribbling seemed unreal, like he was literally from the future as everyone around him was made to look so slow, like Messi was picked up and dropped in 1986 only even better. Imagine if Maradonna had the same pristine pitches  they have today, the referee protection he'd have got that he didn't get in the 82 World Cup where he was apparently kicked out of it, and all the rest of the benefits they enjoy today such as recovery techniques, advanced nutrition knowledge, being wrapped in cotton wool etc etc. He played in a far more physical era and also got caught up in some mafia nonsense in Italy which wouldn't happen today.

Another indictment of the 48 team WC completely uncompetitive game, Argentina know they can't lose, Cape Verde know they can't win, Argentina will take a goal if it comes but just want to get out of it expending as little or no effort as possible, if they can get away with knocking it around on halfway for the entire game they will.

Result, yet another borefest.

still the actual best goalscorer ive ever seen wad Gerd Muller, i dont think there was a really big match from quarter finals onwards for club and country that he didnt score , and usually thet were match winning goals

Not watched every game and dont bet on cards but to my eyes the Refs seem very reluctant to give a card.

They're playing a dangerous game in 2nd gear, especially if they take off the one-man-team player Messi and Cape Verde equalise

Argies will just up it for ten minutes, score a goal and then sit back down again.

Yes, if someone had the bottle and smashed over 1,5 match goals and a small bet next goal Cape Verde you are laughing, the Argies switched off.

Ref will keep giving Messi free kicks closer and closer to the goal, to make sure he gets to ref a game in the next round
