So as far as well, Saudi's at 30/1 is the biggest ever match odds win at the world cup ?Argentina were 1.16 to win this and it got gubbed, not sure if thats a record for this WC.

Weren't Spain even shorter vs CV?

1.16 was BFSP, they went to 1.05--1.06 after they scored the first goal

fair play to the forum, despite the "training session" comments early in the game, nobody lost. Laugh

It was evident early on the Cape Verde were playing extremely well, their use of the ball and their skill level were high and they gave Argentina real problems throughout the match. Anyone who didn't see that were not watching closely enough and without bias.

The romance is lovely but it was clear that Argentina were their own worst enemy, they went out there with the wrong attitude and they did treat it exactly like a training session, yes they were punished for it but don't let us try to make out that Cape Verde beat back an Argie team playing anywhere seriously, the classic scenario played out where it's hard to shift your attitude if you start with the wrong one, it nearly cost thembut they got away with one.

but surely by the time extra time came around the Argies realised they needed to up their game. They scored first in extra time but CV still came back at them.

take Messi out and they are an ordinary team. i really cant see them winning it.

I think the question is whether we think that Argentina would have approached that game with the same lackadaisical attitude against a stronger opponent, we can still rejoice in what Cape Verde achieved whilst also accepting that the Argies caused a lot of their own problems.

I would have liked to have seen Keane on the panel and listened to his view on it.

They did something very similar against the Saudi's in the last WC and still won it.

I wouldn't change my opinion on that outlier last night, they are still a huge player

Finally people are catching on to them being average. Luckily for them, they havn't had to play anyone of note yet
