As per usual i wont be watching extra time.it ridiculous having extra time
It's ridiculous having extra time when it's a draw ?
idea is for matches to finish on the pitch as it should, not a pen shootout, so they allow for extra time
wouldn't like to call it, Courtois is a bit slow these days.
Are these FIFA refs all wearing Shoulder Pads underneath that clobber, they all look so stiff

Most extra times have no goals and often no chances. Six a side extra time IMO would be best. No penalties.
Straight to penalties it should be. Means the better teams have to push to win in 90 which might leave them more vulnerable for the inferior team to score and gives the inferior teams better chance to progress, making it more fun. Straight to penalties and you start to think an African or Asian side have better chances outright and I think that's good for football. Good for viewer retention and getting the next generation to get on board.
tober I doubt the stats at World Cups would back that up, but I'd have to check
6 a side was tried by Germany the other night. Problem was that Paraguay still played eleven.
Straight to ET, and you can have 2 and half hour intervals between matches to keep everything nice and flowing.
I gave Mbaye the big build-up, and he's messed up since. 
I remember in Italy when Robbie Keane was briefly there, they trialed the American style way of penalties, where you run with the ball from the half way line and go one on one with the keeper like in Hockey, it looked s*** and didn't last.
Penalties are just too lacking in skill to be a worthy decider
That's why you have 90 minutes to win. The better team should win it in that. I'm not against Extra Time, but if we get rid of it, straight to penalties makes sense to me.
World Cup matches have gone to extra time 59 times, and 37 of them have gone to penalties
Pens works ok for me. There's been enough messing about with the game as it is.
the drama of penalties is why it's kept, it makes good TV
Yes, regulation football is 90 minutes, eleven a side.
So if that doesn't settle it you need something else.
A six a side game more closely resembles the real thing as you have all the elements of the sport; passing, tackling, heading etc
Penalties is just too basic. An average player will score 75% of them.
Five free kicks v goalie and wall would be better.

But 11 v 11 when the majority have just played 100 minutes is pretty dire
they'll bottle it, they want more air time for sponsors

Senegals fault. They should have taken their chances to go 3 up. Could have won 3-0

I don't think it was a pen, but there you go. Had plenty of opportunity to win it in 90.

What happens if Belgium had scored that chance (seconds after the foul for the penalty which they then gave). Does it chalk off the goal and give them the penalty?
the VAR probably took 5 or 6 minutes, over 11 minutes extra time was ridiculous
it was 8 mins exactly from foul to pen taken...so he prob wasn’t far out
Looks a foul to me. Though is it clear and obvious, given the reactions of most it doesn't seem that way.
I think in the circumstances, the Senegalese have done really well to keep their heads after this
He's going the other way to the game and makes sure he makes contact. NEVER a pen
It was one of those where the attacker knows he can't get the ball but puts his foot in front of the defender just to get the contact
Kanes 10 times a pen over that one, and his was dubious. Oh, sorry, it wasn't given
I thought a pen, he made contact with him just before the ball reached him which it's reasonable to assume put him off balance.

good question. I don't know the answer, but I suspect VAR would have kept schtumm about the "pen" and just given the goal.
It was a pen imo but they hit the bar from the chance and in the circumstances it was fairer to just say no pen. That's not what the rules say tho.
