On bet356 site, the next market priced up after match odds, is "team to kick off"
I've no intention of betting on it, just wondered how it is priced up?
For eg, tonight England who are match favs, are 2/5, Ghana 7/4 to kick off
However, Portugal who are 1/7 in the match odds, are 10/11, Uzbekistan 4/5 to kick off
If you didn't know anything else, you'd probably price it up as a coin toss, literally, 10/11 each of two
I can only assume that something like this is factored in...
Team A, if they win the toss always choose ends
Team B, if they win the toss always choose to kick off
Ie Team B always gonna kick off
Obviously, can't be as straightforward as that otherwise bet is a cert
Anyway, any thoughts?

I noticed this myself and was struggling with it.
Winner of the coin toss can decide whether to kick off first or they can choose in which direction they will play.

So, let's look at the Premier league where you've got the captains doing the same thing every week. Captain of team A always chooses ends if he wins the toss, Captain of team B always chooses kick off if he wins the toss...so team B are always going to kick off...
I'm thinking of ,for eg,Liverpool always wanting to attack the Kop end in the second half so they'll always choose ends

I don't know if the result of the coin toss and the relevant captains choices in previous matches are available for public knowledge, I would assume so, OPTA stats?
At this WC I've noticed the TV coverage switching away from the referee and captains just as they are about to do the toin coss, then come back for the kick off...not for any nefarious reasons, just got ads or promos to show...bl00dy annoying for someone like me trying to find an edge!

with rugby union tyle kick off all in vogue,trying to win back the ball high up the pitch,I,d imagine vast maj of captain on order of the coach,maybe even 90% now take the KO over ends if they win the toss,
England are 1.22 to win against Ghana. I think it's far too short. I think 8 for a draw is a betting proposition given the history of England; Semenyo could be a thorn for England.
Reg, England have a history of kicking off first when winning the toss, whereas Ghana have a history of choosing which way to play when winning the toss leaving the other team to kick off. Nothing is set in stone though. Its never easy!!

I thought it was the bookies shortening the odds due to a high volume of bet builders including england win goals to kick off etc .
Newcastle tends to be loser of toss kicks off.
They do this in cricket and sometimes you get some decent odds

OK, got results of yesterday's 4 matches regarding who kicked off and bet356 prices...
Uzbekistan 5/4
England 2/5.....(I wrongly said Ghana earlier, sorry)
Croatia 1/2
Colombia 2/5
So, the 3 long odds on obliged, the 4th one went to the slight outsider of 2
Too small a sample to say there's a pattern emerging, but I shall keep sticking up the results
Sorry if this is boring anyone, although there's worse threads on here most days I would suggest, but this is a forum to discuss football betting

isn't it a case of the better side will almost always kick off if they win the toss, but the lesser side might not? So Morocco would be 95% likely to kick off if they win the toss, but Haiti are 70% or even lower?

If you were playing Liverpool at Anfield and won the toss surely you make them kick towards Kop in the first half ?
