Get back your box dixie, this discussion is for intelligent posters, there's no seat at the table for you hereLaugh

It's especially not for chumps who think the real Dixie Dean is up there with your all time greats, your Messi's, Maradonna's, Cruyft's etc, just because he banged in a few goals 100 years ago against your Wife beat Welders, Chain Smoking Chimney Sweepers and the local acholic Greengrocer Laugh

6-0

And people think 10 men, 9 men is a good idea.

Probably the sort of people that walk with their knuckles scrapping the pavement

mes, you've got to punish red card offences, if it ruins the game in some way that's too bad, you can't say to the team offended against, I'm sorry but we want to keep it competitive so you have to suck it up, the offended against are entitled to gain an advantage.

They'll likely bring in a timed sin-bin rule first. Before that is eventually scrapped for unpunished karate chops to the threat.

Team A has Messi and Ronaldo playing for them in an upcoming match against the much less talented Team B.

How do we compete ? Says the manager of Team B.

I know, i'll play Basher Briggs and Clogger Collins against them, absolutely hopeless players but i'll tell them to break Messi and Ronaldo's legs early doors, they'll get sent off of course but now under the visionary new rules we'll be able to send our decent players on as subs and the opposition are now without their best two players, easy game this Laugh

I surprised the big time sponsors and broadcasters have never lent of FIFA to make that red card rule.

You'd want as many people watching the game as possible, it's what you're paying the big bucks for.

Those same sponsors and broadcasters would be saying to Fifa, what the f00k you doing, Basher and Clogger just took out our two biggest attractionsLaugh

You need to be more flexible with your thinking, this is very simple stuff.

2 yellows/red - replaced by sub
Deliberately denying a goal scoring chance is a red - replaced by sub
Violent conduct such as pushing your head or hand against another players face/head is red - replaced by sub
Deliberately trying to break someone's legs is  red card - not replaced by sub

That's simply how you get around it, you make that exception so nobody's going to go around trying to break other players legs, especially considering you'd probably get a lengthy ban, lose personal sponsorship as you're not on the pitch and not to mention reputational damage.

Look at how many millions would have tuned out of that game last night at 3-0 down to 10 or 9 men, broadcasters/sponsors/advertisers paying big bucks to have people switch off in droves? Don't think so.

Some of you are stuck in the dark ages, you'd probably still have the pass back to the goalkeeper rule if you had your way.

Kind Regards.

I know that History is not your strong point mes, but the Dark Ages were a period in Europe between the 5th - 14th centuries.

The back pass to the goalkeeper did not exist then.

Association Football was first played in 1863, approx 500 years after the end of this period.

lol at this google merchant mug taking it in the literal senseLaugh, mentioned the stone ages as well, pretty sure you'd agree I knew that was before the rules were first written up at the Freemason's Tavern in 1863 too, on yer bike, chump Laugh

You have been missed from the footy forum mes.

But not for the right reasons

To suggest that "millions" would have switched off due to a one sided contest shows what an absolute mug you are Laugh

Mes, we know History is not your strong point but it seems Geography isn't either, my village is miles away from Chatham, with acres of woodland and riverside walks.

I suppose i should expect such ignorance when talking to a city boy Laugh

I did go to a top Grammar school in Rochester, but didn't even have to pass through Chatham to get there. Not sure why you are dissing the place anyway as i doubt you have any actual knowledge of the town, apart from googling of course Grin.

I had no need to use google as i am well versed on European history ( and not just the period when Arsenal have been trying, but always failing, to win the Champions League Cry).

Of course you don't need to use google, like when I said Fred was Brazil's worst ever striker, and you proceeded to wheel off his career stats as if by memory like a proud dad Laugh

kenbo - if only we could show mes the red card Grin

We all use search engines for stats mes, undeniably even you. But knowing facts about historical periods and their dates are simply due to a decent education.
shame you missed out Laugh
