Personally not a great fan but to be fair Kane is the only truly world class player England have.

what is a "legacy cap" ?
By:
Legacy caps are like what cricket do, and numbering
each player who played for England, in order, by debut. |
By:
oh, sounds a bit unnecessary to me.
By:
Who going to score the goals now mmm
By:
Unnecessary, yep, but gets a lot of old boys involved again
so quite worthwhile. |

VAR in friendlies
![]() |
By:
Ngumoha was not even in the England 55 man squad, so why is he here, as if someone withdraws he can't replace them?
I would have taken him in the 26! |
By:
I dead to think how late some games will finish with all the hydration breaks, fake injuries, VAR delays and added on time, not to mention the possibility of delays for lightning storms etc.

what is the point of these matches. can only see a downside. unless england win by a cricket score and play really well then all the comes is criticism
By:
all that comes is criticism
By:
and that cant be good for morale ahead of the real thing

There will be storm delays too, in usa especially.

enough of the "pirate ship" already.

just dont think its worth it all things considered. this is a glorified training match so why not just have a training match instead where there isnt any chance of criticism

By:
6 Newcastle players, past and present on pitch 2nd half.
By:
Having a match like this is miles better than England v England
but it's a friendly, and so close to world Cup, ultra friendly. |

By:
can't wait for New Zealand vs Iran.
![]() |
By:
Some of these New Zealand players are playing at a real low level, there's one player playing for Braintree - National League South, 6th tier of English football!
Others are playing for sides like Silkeborg (Denmark), Viking (Norway), Lechia Gdańsk (Poland), Zwolle (Holland) Port Vale (relegated to League 2), Peterborough, a few MLS sides, a few Aussie sides, a few New Zealand teams and Motherwell. |

it would be have to laugh if there wasnt a barrage of criticism at the end of it. yes its better than a training match between the squad but what you gain from that you lose and much more imo with all the negativity around a turgid display like this
By:
There's criticism from folk that think it's an important game.
A great work out against hand picked opposition. |
