So which side will give less of a fudge in this game now? Palace with a European final to play, Arsenal sat on the beach celebrating the title...?

Anyone any idea how to bet on this one...? (or leave of course)

Arsenal have a European final too.

Huge swerve for me
Report stu May 20, 2026 1:34 PM BST
Yes, both have other distraction in this one - feels like that should be a clue for the match in some way, just trying to work out how...
Report stu May 20, 2026 1:34 PM BST
Low scoring, if neither side needs a win here really..?
Report Ell May 20, 2026 1:49 PM BST
I would imagine that both teams will play weakened teams and wouldn't be surprised to see 6 or more first choice players on the bench.
Palace have the added disadvantage that the european game is 3 days later rather than 6 days for Arsenal.
I would think that the current price of 1.88 is verging on generous.
Report slickster May 20, 2026 1:57 PM BST
Clearly no bet. If you must maybe palace for "value".

Maybe low card expectation, but bookies will
be seeing this same as us, so pointless, unless
you fancy going against logic.

Was more interested in goals, though tricky how these type of low impact matches go for goals sometimes.

An agency offered me £1,200.00 for my two seats but I've declined.

The club sent out a statement saying they have blocked any sharing of tickets and hired extra staff to ensure the named season ticket holder was in the seat and not someone else.

This came after the Arsenal supporter, celebrating Trossards goal, whilst sitting in amongst West Ham fans, got roughed up and sent stumbling down a few flights of stairs.

The penalty for transgression of the sell on rule is a lifetime ban from  Selhurst Park.

The dosh would have been nice but not worth the consequences.
So I'm going just to enjoy the atmosphere in the sunshine and it would be a great craic if Palace actually won!

You never know.....Laugh

Under 2.5 @ around the 2.34 mark makes appeal.
Report MrStrawMan May 20, 2026 4:26 PM BST
I expect C Palace will play more or less a reserve team , last game they played quite a strong team , Arsenal more or less the same , i expect them to rest most of the side , i doubt saka will play or any players carrying knocks .
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 20, 2026 4:31 PM BST
wise to play reserves, maybe anybody that needs
gametime

Fantasy football selection an absolute nightmare

Report MrStrawMan May 20, 2026 4:39 PM BST
Yes best to leave it late as usually get leaked teams and team news before the games , with more teams with nothing to play for the managers could give out
more info , a lot of people could have 3 arsenal and 3 man city
Report stu May 20, 2026 4:50 PM BST
I just did an AI question, and it suggested that 'dead rubber' types of matches, or low stakes matches, actually show a higher average total goals bias overall...for various possible reasons.
Report duffy May 20, 2026 5:15 PM BST
There won't be any first team player from either side anywhere near the place I'd have thought save maybe for Gyokeres. I expected him to play against Burnley and Havertz in the final but when it came to it Arteta didn't trust him so expect him to play in the pointless game, I think that was a big negative moment for Gyokeres.
Report stu May 20, 2026 5:18 PM BST
Match/mental fitness poss. for a few to run out duffy, few minutes game time...?
Report MrStrawMan May 20, 2026 5:33 PM BST
Raya will probably want to play as he has played every match so far , then i suppose whoever wont start the final out of havertz and gyokeres
Report Aspro May 21, 2026 10:07 AM BST
Many of you are saying that Arsenal will rest players and I can reason with your POV, however, this would also mean that the players rested will go 12 days without kicking a competitive ball, which doesn't seem particularly wise. 12 days without a match is a long rest for me and I would not be surprised if some, if not most of them get a run out on Sunday. 12 days is (imo) bordering on holiday rest.
Report stu May 21, 2026 12:10 PM BST
There's lot more reason for Palace to rest players than Arsenal I agree Aspro.
Report stu May 21, 2026 4:08 PM BST
Was just looking, and apparently winner of Palace's final gets 7 million prizemoney (3 mill for 2nd), so it's a game worth not just the title but also 4 million quid on Wednesday.

I don't think this league game has anything like the meaning for the club, so thinking it's possible Palace will be a full reserve/juniors side this sunday.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 21, 2026 4:14 PM BST
If palace lose one league place they lose 2million or so

Not much in it financially, between next 2 games, after
players bonuses are applied on winning cup.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 21, 2026 4:16 PM BST
The prestige of winning a trophy is immeasurable, and I'd be sure
which game the fans and players want to win, of the 2.
Report stu May 21, 2026 4:16 PM BST
Well, that's also not certain (due to other results as well) and is still only half as financially important at least.

Add to the gaining of an actual cup title for the club and what that can mean to the club's profile etc for marketing. I'd say there's a pretty big difference in importance in all respects.

Spot on yhtl & Stu.

We could lose 4-0 on Sunday, it wouldn't matter a jot in the long run.

Winning on 27th against Rayo Valleca however, would be truly magnificent beyond words.

COYP.
Report stu May 22, 2026 11:18 AM BST
Yep, pretty sure the manager knows that too slippy.
Report stu May 22, 2026 11:21 AM BST
Overall, whichever way he plays it, I think Palace are a strong lay on Sunday. Even if he lets a few get a run out, he will certainly be chopping and changing his players, to avoid any fatigue for Wednesday. He's mentioned the weather too - forecast very hot Sunday. Three days is a very quick turnaround to play a euro final.
Report Susquehanna May 22, 2026 12:15 PM BST
Two teams who don't care about the result and will both rest key players with players that do play looking to avoid injury if there on the plane, it's a complete no bet.
Report stu May 22, 2026 12:50 PM BST
I think Arsenal will 'care' to some extent - sign off their league title with a win.
Report stu May 22, 2026 12:51 PM BST
...and to keep gametime/sharpness to some players.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 22, 2026 1:00 PM BST
Crystal Palace will applaud Arsenal players onto the pitch
as title winners, a signal that they want a clean game.

Palace win 4-2, no cards, everybody happy...
Report Susquehanna May 22, 2026 1:03 PM BST
Palace's cup final is just 3 days after this match, 3 days!

I doubt any key player will start, but if they do, they wont be exerting themselves too much.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 22, 2026 1:20 PM BST
Super hot too, reserve match.
Report stu May 22, 2026 1:23 PM BST
There is only an argument really that Arsenal players will need some gametime - not so much for Palace (given 3 days turnaround).

Palace reserves would be about 6/1 on my tissue to beat Arsenal reserves, if it is so.

Wow just seen the 'feel like' temperature in London will be 32 degrees, even hotter on the pitch, extremely rare Prem players play league matches in that heat, then they're running about. Will have a complete training match feel to it, probably with some water breaks. Great summers day to end the season.

Add in that it's a sudden temperature change, not acclimatised
to it makes it worse.

That's shade temp slippy, pitch will be 40+ if its sunny.
Report Susquehanna May 22, 2026 4:06 PM BST
BBC Weather says London on Sunday will be 31 degrees, feel like temp 32.

Bit like when it's cold, it doesn't factor in wind chill,  so can always be a lot colder than it says it will be.

Pitch temp will be way above actual official temperature, as yhtl says, same as it will be at the World Cup, though maybe some are air conditioned? IDK.

Expecting the likes of Stand Larsson and Johnson to start. No World Cup for Johnson, Larson already in Norway's. Motivation limited.
