It would be ironic if Chelsea beat Tottenham, with a 2pt gap remaining, then on the final day of the season, West Ham would need to win their match and rely on former manager David Moyes from saving them if Everton could get a result at Spurs. Stranger things have happened.

Don't forget that the 1966 squad were playhing on muddy pitches, with heavy boots and a very much heavier ball. If they could be reincarnated and had modern training methods I suspect that they would still be internationals. All sports move on. I was a reasonably good athlete between 1965 and 1985. The latter 2 years were as a veteran athlete and coincided with better shoes and synthetic tracks. At age 40 and 41 I improved all of my personal best times by a second per lap compared to the old cinder tracks and 2 seconds per lap compared to grass. My son is still active in athletics and reckons the new shoes sold this last 2 years are worth at least a second a lap again hence the sub 2 hour marathons in London and records falling at every major meeting so far.
