Everyone knows this season has been the worse standard of football ever witnessed.
pundits, media, players the lot have criticized the standard, think its fair to say evryone has turned it off now and the Premier league need to have a major revamp, because lots of people I know have stopped watching it |

Come off it Donny, you may seem some decent games at SJP but much of the EPL is mind numbing this season, strength and athleticism being prioritised at the expense of a decent spectacle. Most of the media are saying similar, the reliance on set pieces is tedious.
EPL clubs were humiliated in Europe in the week which says it all. |

The most boring team in the league are the only team to score twice.
The reliance on set-pieces stems from the lesser teams being better athletically and on the counter and marking man-to-man a lot of the time. Very hard to find space and create overloads high up the pitch, that was the gameplan in previous years, and they are more dangerous if you give the ball away. Arteta/Arsenal are top because they have cottoned onto this before the rest. Different kettle of fish in europe tho. The top teams can play like that and put it up to you too. |

Yes they did today, courtesy of two late defensive errors and neither from set pieces ironically.
I certainly wouldn't say its just Arsenal who are boring, much of the league is as others have opined on here. The "best league in the world" was rather shown up last week in Europe and our clubs have a mountain to climb to restore that reputation. |

It's been a brilliant season at sjp dixie, but on top of that the other teams are
very strong as you see from euro results. Everton giving arsenal a good game today, OK Everton ain't the most attacking team, but why should they be if they find a way that works. Won 3-2 at our place, infuriating the way it panned out but nothing undeserved, and another game full of jeopardy. I really can't see how anybody that enjoys test match cricket can fail to enjoy 2 Premier league teams battling for a advantage to win a game. If you don't, then stick to highlites, simples |

The only team in Ligue 1 who hasn't got a game this weekend is PSG, postponed just because of CL, for one team only. The league is tighter this year, that's why. Last season none of their first XI started more than 25 games and they've only 34 games in their league.
5/6 teams played away first leg. Spurs are not CL quality, they beat 4 teams who finished 31-35th. The other 2 who got whipped played like it was a one-leg tie, pushing their entire 10 outfield players to within 40 yards of goal and getting hit on the break. Clown tactics. |

Go away first leg and get a draw or a one-goal loss, esp against Real/PSG. It's a great/not bad result against anyone at this stage.

I understand your viewpoint Donny, but when push came to shove last week and the "proper" competition started in Europe, English clubs tactics were exposed.
You are fortunate to at least see some more open games at SJP, a lot of other grounds have to put up with some dire stuff. It's not just me saying it, plenty agree including many journos. Test cricket is completely different to any football match. For a start it's played over 5 days rather than 90 minutes ! There is so much more time for fluctuations. different tactics, assessing the match situation etc. If the game isn't going your way you have a lot of time to work out how to turn things around. A football manager can of course change his teams formation if things are not going right or bring subs on but a standard match cannot match the ebbs and flows of a test. But whatever floats your boat i suppose, we are all different  |

What about the dodgy CL games involving epl sides, pure corruption in last min, reff in on it too, in fact you cannot bet on the CL, the epl isn't far behind but overall best to find another medium to bet on, it's unsafe, too big, too much munee involved.
EPL is just like betting on the donkey derby, they think they cleaver but not many epl football punters left, too dodgy, too many late goals, too much dodgy var calls. Complete dog ****... Or as the mongs call it, best in wurld. |

Can you imagine running round a field for a full hour and a half busting your guts trying to score a goal and then being told that the goal was disallowed because your mates big toe was in an offside position when you put the ball in the net.

Agreed, Spurs are not a good side. Even with no injuries we may not be where we are, but we'd still struggle to make CL standard (top 4) with Europa being the only possible route, at a push. Most PL teams are capable of winning that one under the new format.
With the injuries we've had for most of the season, those that are covering are not of a PL standard, as we're all witnessing. We have a poor keeper, we have erratic centre-halves and without Maddison, we barely have a midfield either with very little creativity. Then we have Solanke and Richarlison as our front two. Experienced yes, but top quality? Far from it. I believe you need to rethink that statement yhtl, although the bit about the fans does have some relevance  |

Spurs just won europa league with a clown managing them
Players won it by taking over, of course they are a good team. Maybe a bit surly this season, and suffering for it, and such negativity from fans, (and some horrendous injuries) |

Need to ask why some of us are negative. Levy not improving the side over the summer and especially stuttering on Eze when there was no need to. That left us weak with (known) injuries and it was clear, from August, we were never going to compete with what we had. Then they got rid of Levy and we were told by the new board that they would be looking to improve the team. Can't blame them for the summer, that was solely down to Levy, but by January, unsurprisingly, we were already heading in the wrong direction, which was clear to fans and neutrals alike. They didn't act at all. The front line needed improving so they brought in Gallagher, a midfielder, who nobody really wanted AND a defender, that at the time we didn't need. Not one improvement to the front line, NOT ONE!
Romero recognised this, as did the rest of us and he let them know, the fans followed suit... he was right! Now look at us. I'll say what I said to lapsy a while back... is this the fans fault? |

I should add I didn't want Levy to go. I was really peeved at Eze, as I was with Fernandes (Man Utd)... look what he's doing now and we had him. Grealish was ours for circa £25m, Levy backed away and he was sold for £100m... and this is just a few of many more mistakes by Levy. The fans had had enough and wanted someone who could deliver.
Personally I felt he was keeping the club strong, but he was stupid, because there was no medium between him and the fans. It was all for the growth of the club (and ENIC), not the team. The fans, the LOYAL fans, kept turning up, kept buying merchandise and kept seeing us fail. Something had to give. Sadly, as it now appears, it is out of the frying pan... |

I don't mean the armchair fans aspro, that's pretty
much expected and can't really do much else. But those in the stadium are where I'm aiming. Not great. Even away support was quite a few decibels down. |

I haven't been for a while (as you know), but the fans have not always been the greatest. I recall a Liverpool game I attended in the mid 2000's I believe, first game of the season if memory serves. We had around 6 newbies playing and came away with a 1-1 draw against a decent side. I enjoyed the game, we put up a good fight and the newbs played their part, but at full time they were booed... that did rile me as it was totally undeserved given all the circumstances. It was embarrassing tbh.
They can be a little headstrong at times, and wrong from my perspective, but their moans over the past few years are starting to prove justified. The team "appears" secondary and for a club of our stature, that is simply not acceptable anymore. So yes, to a degree I agree with your evaluation of the attendees, but now I'm edging towards agreeing with them a little, especially after this and last season. |

I completely agree with that, their negativity doesn't help the players, especially Vicario who was also booed for his mistakes. Not needed, because it simply doesn't help.

I would not single out Spurs’ fans, all the English clubs in Europe are embarrassingly outshone by away fans.
It depends on the turn of the game if course but generally, if things aren’t going to plan, support for English clubs starts to sound thin and reedy after 20 minutes, and then the % of petulant whining ticks up by the minute. All forgiven, of course, if the English club reaches a position of safety:- then the fans are oohing and aahing indulgently like Grannies at the circus. It is a shame that Galatasaray fans are banned from Anfield tonight because Liverpool fans -despite their reputation - are among the most fickle. |

Not many barca fans turned up at sjp 1600 for last 16,less than 1000 league phase. PSG fans loud too, but they have drums. |
