|

Hmm, I'm still none the wiser.
Could some football sage explain this "Forest model" in some more detail? If they perfected summat, it's not working this season. |
|
By:
They ain't using it any more, or tried not to.

5 Epl teams in top 8 of champs league and man city 11th
Tell me again how rubbish they are |
|
By:
Tbf, the op was about how drab & boring games in the EPL have been.
|
|
By:
3 points between 3rd and 15th in the Champions League table
. |

By:
TBF to the English sides, there was a good analysis point made on match of the day recent - that when the top sides play in EPL they usually face sides just trying to close down matches, keep it tight etc.
But, when they play in europe sides will often open up against them - e.g. when Spurs Liverpool and Arsenal all won recently in europe. They are playing sides that think they are good, so they attack the English sides, and have fallen short mostly (Man city aside of course lol) |

some valid points

By:
Yes stu, all teams in the CL are used to playing attacking football & winning in their respective leagues - that's why they're in the CL after all.
So teams will go for it rather than low block making for open & entertaining football - unlike most of what you'll see in the EPL. |
|
By:
Exactly that wes - playing v sides used to dominating is far easier for the English sides, than facing other English sides that sit and defend for 80 minutes of matches.
|
|
By:
So as it turns out, the Premier League has 3 teams in all 3 European finals
Can't be that bad a league, nobody else has more than 1. |
