Report sofaking January 17, 2026 10:47 PM GMT
I agree that it's an extremely weak Premier League season where the vast majority of the bigger clubs are playing well below their potential. But I guess you've got to take advantage of such seasons whenever possible (like Leicester did ten (f%$k, is that ten years ago already) years ago. But Arsenal won't care about such small details when they finally lift the trophy in May.
Report duffy January 17, 2026 11:12 PM GMT
The problem is that Arteta would be in the changing room after that point secretly punching the air in celebration, I wouldn't be assuming that Arsenal have it sewn up yet because they've got that panic gene within them, they don't create enough through open play and their most reliable goal scorers are still Merino and Trossard and that's just wrong, but it doesn't look like anyone else can mount any sort of challenge so their frailties won't be exposed.

You're surely having a laugh. Liverpool, City, Chelsea etc have been mostly awful all season. It's been one of the worst top flight seasons in recent memory.  Man Utd and Spurs are still in the doldrums. Only Villa have really stepped up but they don't have a deep enough squad to really challenge. Arsenal are famously fragile but City and the rest are not putting them under any pressure whatsoever.

1/5 Arsenal. They are 7 points infront with a superior 2-goal difference. I've not looked at their remaining fixtures however, I think there could be plenty of reward for layers. Man City is next best at 5/1.

YHTL watches the Toon and their home games have plenty of entertainment and goals. Unfortunately the majority of other venues regularly serve up turgid stuff and this really is a poor season with many sides certainly being well matched, but only due to their averageness. The EPL is vastly overhyped, mainly due to the self interest in doing so to keep the cash coming in. Plenty of players who treat the ball like a hot potato and yet are unfathomably lauded by the pundits and media.

Just backed Villa outright at 18/1 to win the league and 9/2 top 2...
Hoping for a win today, obviously, and can see Arsenal not liking the pressure if the gap is down to 1 or 2 points by March

Report stu January 18, 2026 3:55 PM GMT
Newcastle around 1.81 pre match was over short at a sure to be battling Wolves.
Newcastle backers think they are Liverpool or Villa, but look at the table for their away form, no where near.
But not complaining if backers want the prices.
Report Crisp77 January 18, 2026 3:57 PM GMT
The Newcastle team is twice the value of Wolves so they should expect an easy win
Report DixieDean60 January 18, 2026 4:00 PM GMT
A sporting bet Reg, Villa have a reasonable run of fixtures coming up , already played the gunners twice and they don't play City or Liverpool until the last two games.

The toffees are in a stale run of form, hardly surprising given the absences for one reason or another. They also have a poor recent record at Villa Park so the home team are justifiably short in the betting for today.
'
The Wolves/Newcastle game that's just finished really underlines  the above points about the poor fare often on offer in the EPL, a right yawn.
