Just listening to the Judgement on his recent online crimes. amazing. He is given suspended sentences and is free to carry on his unpleasant life outside of prison. How many more times will this very unpleasant man be forgiven for his sins? I just hope that the FA forbid him from being employed by any Football Club in the future.

Barton should give up social media, but he'd miss
the attention he derives from the shite he spouts.

I guess he will be looking forward to England playing
Mexico in Mexico City in World Cup  as he is banned from USA.

Poor bloke. He's got Rose West suing him now for defamation of character.

Very unpleasant man is well described I can’t think of anyone involved in sport to be as horrible as he is in my entire life that cage fighter from Ireland would be 2nd.

I agree with all four posts and half of the o.p.  We might not agree with his sentencing but he has hardly been forgiven or even admonished.  He’ll never change sadly.  We can only hope he breaches the suspended part then gets locked up.

Barton should have spent a lot more time in prison than he has done, for the several violent assaults he basically got away with.

A court case about childish insults online obviously should never happen at all.

Joey Barton was CLEARED over using the words Fred and Rosemary West, he was found guilty of superimpsoing their images, this was classed as grossly offensive.

Spitting Image was more offensive than a lot of what Barton has said or insinuated.

Spitting image was a lampoon, Barton is offensive and
precisely targeted.

If he doesn't know the difference he should stay clear.

Wish I would have known that before I sent out the Christmas cards.

He called jeremy vine a paedophile.  Some on here think that should be allowed under the defence of free speech , I wonder why they would defend him?

Is Jeremy Vine suing?

Vine already sued, and Barton settled

Joey Barton to pay Jeremy Vine £75,000 after calling him a ‘bike nonce’
This article is more than 1 year old

Former footballer also issues public apology to presenter, who sued him over insults a court found to be defamatory

You’re lying fullset, deliberately it would seem.  He did not call the narcissist Vine a paedophile.
By:
----you-have-to-laugh---
When: 08 Dec 25 22:48
The implication was by calling him a bike nonce he had called him, or implied
he was a peedo.

He could have argued that,.. but likely he was advised
legal fees would escalate quickly, and he'd be better
to settle as he had a good chance of losing the argument
in court and paying 2 sets of legal fees.

Agreed.  It is important that words are reproduced accurately however, not for added effect.  Imv.
I also feel distaste for Vine but not Barton’s view of his character or the description Barton used of him.
That is not however hate crime, it is personal opinion.

hes a nasty piece of work

Given he had previous he was probably lucky to get it suspended

It was a beautiful moment when he threw his shirt to the city fans and they threw it back
By:

I had forgotten that.  Brilliant response - well done City fans.

Had I been Barton I would have argued pre court that
bike nonce was not calling him a peedo, and that it
was mocking his appearance whilst cycling that was
decidedly odd, apologised profusely for using the phrase
and promised to be more careful in future.

And reiterated that the phrase was an unfortunate
choice of words and had been misconstrued by Vine
through no fault of his own, and apologised again.

But... He coughed up

Barton is a nasty piece of work, and vine is a click bait
merchant. It's almost inevitable these clashes occur.

Barton is a very dislikeable individual. Had he not been a professional footballer then he’d have spent his life in and out of prison.

I read his book when it was first released. Pretty sure I liked it at the time and felt some empathy towards him. I think that’s all gone now. He’s a grown man now with years of experience behind him and he still can’t keep his emotions in check or his mouth shut. Probably feels that’s the way he should behave to keep his followers interested. A small percentage of those will be as unhinged as he is.

This is the time for Christmas Parties and - where elite athletes are concerned - high jinks.

Yes, Joey Barton famously stubbed a lit cigar into the eye of his young Manchester City teammate, Jamie Tandy, at the club's Christmas party in December 2004, an incident that led to a huge fine and civil action from Tandy, who suffered psychiatric harm. The altercation, where Tandy tried to set Barton's shirt alight with a lighter, resulted in Barton being fined six weeks' wages and Tandy later suing for damages, winning £65,000

According to Barton's biography- after the cigar jab - Joey said call it quits but the apprentice said No and Barton said "Fair enough, see you in court."

Joey Barton is a bad character full stop.

The more we try to forget about him the more he has to try to keep himself in view. Set fire to his trousers on twitter or whatever it takes.

So what do you think is a nonce ?
I repeat my earlier question,,,why would you defend Barton.
By:
LoyalHoncho
When: 09 Dec 25 22:41
He didn’t use the word paedophile.  Nor did he call him a nonce, he called him a biker nonce. I don’t defend Barton, so you’ve got it wrong three times now.
