If a football team is on the attack and a defenders boot comes off would the referee stop the game until the defender ties up his laces ? I'm sure the answer would be no so I can't see what the problem is with Newcastles first goal; also as well 45 seconds to tie up your laces; serves him right

Players are not allowed to delay a restart to tie their laces, and if they are not ready, they can be instructed to leave the field to finish the task.

Tonali was booked in cup final for tying his boot laces.

Were you once a referee y-h-t-l?
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- October 30, 2025 12:32 AM GMT
No, but I played, and our youth coach was keen on
us knowing the rules.

I kind of lost track a bit, but try to keep up, and
it helps to have a decent grasp.

Still stuff in football, cricket, golf where interpretation
of the rules catches me. And maybe some of the laws even.

Rugby, has really changed since I played, almost
a different game, but I enjoy watching and try
to follow referee chat in game to understand better.

One of my best mates from school became a football agent
and we used to test each other on his course work, boring
stuff to many, down the pub.

The fact that once he took off the boot he then loosened all the laces as if it had been too tight, then slowly proceded to tie then again.Another thing is he down it during a very heavy period pf sustained newcastle pressure.

Spence wanted at least 90 secs if a player wearing slip ONS boot comes off,can he have 90 secs to put that back on ? , Spence ain't and has never been the brightest

I DID wonder about that,
to be a distraction perhaps ?
But 4 y ?
Didn't seem to keen to get back into the game either.

To be fair Spence looks a very good player imo.Be a good buy for one of the big clubs.

he,s lying obviously  but if frank had told 5ft 6 spence to mark 6ft + scharr on all set pieces, spurs should have sacked frank on the spot this morning,
Spence v Gabriel on arsenal set pieces should be unmissable viewing

Maybe Frank should have asked Schar to tie Spence's laces.

Some mothers do 'ave em

i dare say had it been last minute of ian jury time with the spurs needing a goal to win or equalise the laces might of been tied a tad sharper.

'Maybe Frank should have asked Schar to tie Spence's laces'.

He would have tied them together if he had any sense.
