was all abit confused but they seemed to say, they made their money from the MOVIE tax free scheme but lost it on bad property deals/over inflated prices/excessive charges by the spivs, but the cinema tax loophole was closed down when 100,s of so called film companies wernt producing any films, not sure if footballers were then backdated taxed on certain so called cinema firms been declared unlawful, which they were invested in

On Murphy mentioning his substance abuse, that might explain the times I've seen him on MOTD in the past and often thought that his eyes had looked like he might have been on something, thought that a few times.

murphy wont have been top 5/6 of pools starting 11 in squad of 25, or in a squad of 40 for england, we hear tales of fowler, maca etc doing well with investments,is murphy saying their were lots of other l,pool/ENG players in same boats as him,or did they invest better,do more dilligence etc,if murphy is the front for 100,s of others safe to assume he,s one of most high profile, are these the same group of players who were signed up by that journeymen brum player for dubia property investment who had to flee to america ?

The biggest shock i thought was how a relatively low key player like Murphy had £5m to squander on these "investments". Just shows how much cash has been swilling around the game since the inception of the EPL. And yet they all seem to want more.
Would have liked to have heard a proper interview with the Kingsbridge guys rather than prepared statements throughout the programme.
Difficult to sympathise too much with the players apart from when it was shown that apparently some of their signatures had been forged on certain documents. If that was true then surely a fraud charge could have been levied ?

Think Murphy is being disingenuous. Didn't watch the doc, but have read about the scheme. He borrowed £1M for the rebate scheme on top of his own £4M. Did he admit that the investment was too good to be true/he was greedy/he was happy to take big returns for (at the time) no risk? Not buying the Mr Innocent act. It was easy money...until it wasn't.

“the needy and the greedy are ripe for the picking by these sharks”.
You are almost suggesting that what these players have suffered at the hands of these two khounts is somehow acceptable. Are you? Would you say that convincing needy o.a.p.’s, to go to their banks and transfer monies to scammers, who have convinced them of their need to do so is acceptable too. Indeed would you differentiate between the two means of parting people from their wealth? I don’t. Give each and every one of you the chance to avoid paying these hmrc hyenas and each and every one of you would do it.

How many of you have told hmrc that your wife carried out admin. on your behalf, as an employee, in order to achieve a tax concession? All of you, if you are self-employed. Did you therefore cheat the taxman?

as described on the docu which was as stated a mish mash, this wasnt like jimmy carr/barlow been found that their aggresive 3% tax avoidance schemes were made illegal, they legit made their money from the FILM INDUSTRY TAX BREAK, at the time but invested it in over inflated overseas property which went belly up,which they now say they could stomach that but are getting hit with tax liabilities now for investing in movie production companies that HMRC say didnt exist, no films were produced, their basically conflating 3 different scenario,s/phases or at least thats what the docu portrayed, it even said some of them lost next to nothing and only using their name to try and help those who lost alot, and as i said above seemed more upset with howard wilkinson than the 2 people who supposedly defrauded them

at its basic level they thought they were SAVING £, they wernt they were INVESTING and their £ was at risk, most people see their house as an investment, not sell a house like brian deane to use the £ to invest elsewhere and the 2 fellas said/hinted in one of their replies that DEANE was the most dilligent in doing some homework, visiting the properties etc ,before agreeing
