I'd love to see him shake off the pepball chite
and get back to the wonderful player he was at
Villa.

Good luck to him.

Not like he is Maradona going to Napoli (I wish!) but hope he applies himself twice a week, stays injury free, and gets the service he deserves.

29 is a dangerous age. Wasn't Joe Cole that when we got his transfer to Liverpool?

Anyone found decent h2h season betting for Everton v Man U?

Best I found was 365's 10/3 which is a bit skinny.
Report unitedbiscuits August 11, 2025 7:32 PM BST
I would have thought 10/3 a decent price; granted more chance of Manchester United transforming from an ugly duckling to a swan but I have noticed high-expectations turn to free-fall when safety is reached and United always shoulder higher expectations, pre-season.
Report PorcupineorPineapple August 11, 2025 8:06 PM BST
I was hoping for around 9/2
Report unitedbiscuits August 11, 2025 8:17 PM BST
Then Man Utd would have to be priced at prohibitive odds c 1/8 -

United fans would prefer to back their team against Chelsea at odds against, I imagine. Everyone hopeful pre-season.

Could be a great bit of business Mr S, at least if he brings anything like his A game.

Has every incentive to do well of course with the World Cup on the horizon.

Defence looks solid and midfield looking ok, just need a proper out and out goal scorer now !

Report DixieDean60 August 12, 2025 5:03 PM BST
Too expensive i think Dragon. Rashford and Grealish on similar wages, as i understand it Barca are paying all of Rashfords whereas EFC only paying part of Jack's.

Dibling does look promising Mr S but not sure he's worth the kind of cash they are demanding.
Report The Dragon August 12, 2025 5:13 PM BST
ah ok dixie, lets see what happens to him at barca,, might get him cheap if it doesnt workout for him
Report unitedbiscuits August 12, 2025 5:34 PM BST
Not a great fan of Rashford.

Very few English players of outstanding promise have the brain to realise full potential. Their heads get turned.

I think Pep was trying to tell Jack before he gave up on him. “Cop yourself on. I know what a world class player looks like: I coached Messi. “ Who never quite secured his place in history until he won the World Cup.  So many English players think their the dog’s b***ocks at 20 and never get any better.  But Moyes/Grealish: I can see that working.

Lots of players arrive,.. And don't improve

Quite interesting to see cricketers get better skills
and footballers just get faster and stronger

When was last time you remarked on a striker hitting the
ball harder this season, or developing new tricks to
beat a player...

Report TameTheTiger August 12, 2025 7:55 PM BST
when i think of Grealish, i imagine him getting the ball to his feet (never running on to the ball ) on the left wing, and then playing a 5 yard pass backwards. its rare to see him beat the full back and put a good cross in.

Quite a bit Dragon,

Premier League winning seasons - 74 appearances ( 11 goals)
FA Cup win - 5 appearances including the final
Champions League win - 13 appearances including the final

I’m talking about the handful of players who contend to be the best of all time. In the lifetime of Maradona, Messi was in his shadow. Messi laid it to rest in ‘22.

Just fell out of favour with Pep Dragon, these things happen. City had a poor year last year by their standards and yet Jack didn't play much, very weird.

Thing is that perspective is needed here, EFC have been criticised (quite rightly) for paying over the odds for unproven players in the past that turned out to be duds.

So its a relief to finally see them rein that in. They have just signed a talented player on loan with loads of experience and winners medals in the cabinet.
Yes they have to pay a chunk of his wages, but no transfer fee. What's not to like ? If it doesn't work out then so be it.

Having seen some of the obscene amounts of money being chucked around by other clubs for various Carlos Kickaball's that most of us have never heard of, i am fairly happy with the new blood that the club has brought in.
Report The Dragon August 12, 2025 8:24 PM BST

Aston Villa Grealish was one of the best players in EPL.

Maybe he had some refuelling issues, but if he
overcomes them then he's a great signing, and probably
still a good one, with refuelling issues.
Report DixieDean60 August 12, 2025 9:05 PM BST
A back to form Grealish would be good news for England too, gives them even more options.

Don't worry Dragon, i don't think the Toffees will be challenging the Reds any time soon !  A mid table finish with maybe a decent cup run would do, just hope they get off to a reasonable start unlike the last couple of seasons where they were awful and had to play catch up.
Report PorcupineorPineapple August 12, 2025 9:09 PM BST
Never mind what he won at City, I think the consensus was that he was a bit disappointing overall. He cost a huge amount and was never more than a squad player. Pep spent millions more on other players in the same position. I imagine Moyes is gambling that by making him the big fish in the little pond again he can hopefully re-create the Villa form and forget about his time at City. To be fair, I reckon he'll get a tune out of him and the blues will have a much better season than most people think.
Report unitedbiscuits August 12, 2025 9:14 PM BST
Put it like that and its’s a bit of an easy job for Jack, depending on his approach and the way he is handled.

He can’t withstand being the one player the opposition want to stop for 90 minutes twice a week, however much he is paid.
Report LoyalHoncho August 12, 2025 9:56 PM BST
Is there still a question mark about his professionalism off the park?  In other words, might he attract tabloid attention which might affect his @nd the team’s performances?  I feel it is a legitimate question however well he appears to have conducted himself at City.
Report comingupthehill August 12, 2025 10:05 PM BST
Great signing for Everton.
Every team needs a player like him,
As for off field,he seems fine, only player to notice the blind girl when collecting his champions league medal,
Pep didn’t like him,cos pep wants robots to play the way he wants, wild cards don’t fit in his team.
Report rothko August 13, 2025 6:05 PM BST
interesting he names rooney and gascoigne as his favourite England players. Both had colourful off the field activities and liked a bevvy like him

Some pubs in Liverpool might be looking forward to their takings going up
Report Crisp77 August 13, 2025 9:19 PM BST
Grealish is ideal for Moyes. Spin in a circle until he draws a foul. Moyes team are excellent at set pieces so expect lots of goals from free kicks.
