bit different glasgow . liverppol fans have always booed the national anthem and its links to the royal family.
booing a minutes silence over a young man who lost his life is totally unacceptable and basically wrong... but u will always get some nutcases in all walks of life so hardly surprising but very sad

... Of course the Anthem has links to the Royal Family, either way a minute or 2 of respect was asked for and neither was achieved, that in itself is sad to see imo.

Sorry Dragon, but for once have to disagree with you on this one. As unedifying as those idiots interrupting the minutes silence was, it's a bit rich for Liverpool supporters to moan about disrespect. I don't know why they still play the national anthem before games when the Reds are playing, they know what will happen. I've no issue with anybody not being fans of the royals, but there is no need whatsoever to boo the anthem, just stay quiet.

Liverpool supporters have a long-held opposition towards the establishment, with the booing of the national anthem becoming widespread in the 1980s and during the Conservative government’s “managed decline” of the city. The failings of the government following the Hillsborough disaster further entrenched those feelings.
That anger against social and economic inequality among a left-leaning city and fanbase have remained, and the national anthem continues to be booed when Liverpool play showpiece finals, and those exceptional moments when the national anthem is played before Premier League games, as was the case on the day of King Charles III’s coronation.
have no issue with L'pool fans booing but was inevitable it would lead to some disrespect for the minutes silence

If only I cuold think of another club whose fans I(and players some might say) withdraw england support at any slight........ Well done wining a football match Palace i hope it makes you feel better about your fellow scummy fans!

How does booing the national anthem justify filthy Palace scum booing dead men?
it doesn't - although no one booed dead men of course.. they didn't observe the silence, which in my opinion is poor but undoubtedly some would have been upset by the national anthem not being respected and a few idiots (and it was very few) chose to take the low road in response.

I really don't see what is achieved by booing the national anthem, a minutes silence or an opposing national team's anthem.
All it does is reinforce other supporters existing negativity towards your club/team.

Less about Royalty (though inevitably a lot of Republicans) than the destruction of L'pool as a working city in the 80's under Thatcher and the subsequent Hillsborough cover up..
not many Mancs that have much of a love in with the establishment and many indifferent to England after Utd players getting booed by a significant minority at national home games in the 90's...

quite funny and even if they gave an answer some would probably say something else...and that's not a knock on L'pool fans btw ..more football culture..
in terms of Hillsborough isn't it more about those that are supposed to represent you doing anything but and therefore any pride in the nation being in any way representative of L'pool feelings and it's experiences essentially misplaced..

Maggie said no but created a dole culture and increased criminality as in many poorer areas..and oversaw the cover up of massive police failures that attempted to exonerate South Yorkshire Police for their obvious role in the deaths of L'pool supporters..
not my place to say how L'pool feels ..
