Yes, he got an assist in the Bournemouth game
|
|
By:
He's been at Everton for over 3 years now but not reached 50 appearances yet. Mainly due to injury and falling out with the management.
I remember when he first signed that big things were expected as he was already in the national side at the age of 19. He's still only 23 so does still have time on his side, up to him to prove he's worth a place in the starting line up. |

Thanks. Didn’t know about the falling out. Could still come good I feel.

interesting season ahead for them,,, not a team to bet on or against imvho
smart move getting moyes back |

Honcho - to be honest it wasn't a massive falling out, just a training ground incident with Sean Dyche that led to some frostiness between the two.
Sean preferred to play Ashley Young anyway which is why Nathan didn't get much game time. The injuries were the main reason for his lack of games, he missed Euro 24 for Scotland of course as a result of them. Dragon - pre season hasn't been looking good, squad down to the bare bones. I'm not as optimistic as i was a few weeks ago for the coming season although the defence should be good enough to keep any relegation talk at bay. The couple of new signings are promising younger players but will need time. There has been talk of Grealish coming on loan which i would like to see, we need more creative players in the side. |

be interesting to see if playing at the stadium will have any impact
first game is away to leeds on the monday evening. leeds are favs on here but i wd expect everton to get at least a draw |

Looked promising when he arrived but has had limited opportunity to make his mark due to inconsistent performances. As said above make or break season for him.
|
|
By:
how did they got on v united last night?
|
|
By:
2-2 Dragon, a much better performance than the previous two. Utd given the softest penalty imaginable to score first but then an own goal that was Heaven sent gave the Toffees the draw in the end. Fair result.
Jake O'Brien reverted to right back. |

By:
Thanks Dixie- roll on the start of the season shd be fascinating.
i have two mates who are everton season ticket holders and are looking forward to the new stadium and the start of the season. |
|
By:
The new stadium does look terrific Dragon, season tickets were quite reasonably priced(£640 to £900 i believe) compared to buying individual tickets, the only ones you can buy in advance are called "premium tickets" which include a couple of tenner vouchers for food/drink - West Ham in a few weeks @ £125 but the Merseyside derby next year is £249 !
The first derby i saw at Goodison was in 1986 (nil nil draw) - tickets over the halfway line cost £5 ! It's a costly business going to the match these days. |
|
By:
cant remender my first derby Dixie- probably late 60s early 70s.
Funnily enough the first match i saw was at goodison in 66 or 67 everton v man city. everton had ball harvey and kendall in midfield and were a top team the score was 1-1 -went with my m8 and his dad who were evertonians. my dads family were all reds and my mums family were all blues , all from Norris Green. I followed my Dad thankfully. been to a few derbys over the years both at anfield and at Goodison. Some of my mates still follow Liverpool all over the world. Pricing as you say is crazy but its a very differrent game from when i was on the Kop back in 70s and 80s I dont go anymore apart from the odd Cup match with my youngest son if i can get tickets. |

Took a bunch of kids down to a holiday weekend+ tournament near Manchester. A late entry. Yonks ago. Everton was the only club to entertain us turning up at the door and gave us an impromptu tour. Have always appreciated that fact. Utd and Liverpool a no without warning/pre-order. City the same but the old white-haired woman who used to ring the bell was hanging about outside and gave the lads a potted history.

Everton currently must have one of the weakest squads in the PL. Competitive first eleven and 3 strong subs but looks pretty thin after that
Moyes seems frustrated that they havent got more bodies in 3 or 4 long term injuries to key players and they will struggle massively always thought the 3 promoted would go back down again but Brentford and Everton might be in the mix if they dont strenthen their squads I might even start the Everton relegation thread again |
|
By:
Dyches had to deal with that last season. It will be more than interesting to see how Moyes does in similar circs.

wolves are in the relegation pot also imvho

The atmosphere at the grounds in the 70s and 80s seemed so much better than nowadays Dragon, mainly due to the terraces. Its fully understandable why stadiums became all seater of course, but it did suck the life out of some stadiums imo.
Living 250 miles away it was difficult to get to see Everton apart from London away games so i used to watch my local team Gillingham in my younger days, that was great fun being on the terraces with your mates. Finally got to Goodison in 1984 when Everton drew the Gills in the FA Cup and a few of us went up to the city for the weekend. After that i made regular trips there with Liverpool/Spurs/West Ham supporting mates, going to Anfield for a number of games as well. We used to take in a few games a season and would book through the local council Soccer Weekenders - it was unbelievably affordable compared to today - i kept a brochure from those times, an example was 2 nights B & B at the Adelphi, tour of the home teams ground, ticket for the game and coach transfers to the ground for the grand total of £28 !! That was 1986/7. One day we went up on the spur of the moment on a Friday night as Liverpool were playing Spurs at Anfield on the Saturday and my Reds supporting mate was desperate to be in the city as a win would clinch the title (1990 i believe). We found a hotel ok and then more in hope than expectation went to the ground to find an almighty queue waiting to get in the Kop - no tickets required apparently to our amazement, first come first served. I could not believe that i , being a life long Evertonian, was queueing for 2 hours to get in to our arch rivals ground and then had to stand on the Kop for 90 minutes before the game started just to watch them win the title ! I gradually fell out of love with going to games as the Premiership became more and more about money, a real shame. |

great stuff dixie- yes football was very different back in the day- one o the bad sides was the violence wghich resulted in mre going as often particuarly to away games.
comforty of the settee for me know but will aleays want my beloved liverpoool to win -even as an old aged pensioner!!!! The other funny thing was that i never really had a strong dislike for Everton - maybe thats because my mums family were Evertonians We were brought up to despise Man utd and i always hope that they loose even to this day ![]() ![]() ![]() |

not going as often

I'm not a fan of the logistics of the new Everton stadium. For one, Goodison is home. It always just feels a bit tory to give up on that for some shiny thing that'll get your more money. But apart from that, it seems a nightmare to get to and from. I wouldn't fancy being on Sandhills platform after a game and a few pints getting jostled waiting for the next train.
But I will say, they've got a Dortmund-style wall stand which is basically as steep as possible. If they can get an atmosphere going, that should be a good sight. |
|
By:
Thankfully i never really saw much violence when i went to Everton games Dragon, the Gills games had a few scuffles though. The worst one was when Gills played Fulham in 1998 at Priestfield and after the game some thug stabbed and killed a Fulham supporter. Thankfully much of that kind of thing has been eradicated from the game.
PoP - i agree that there are reservations about the new stadium, the transport certainly could be an issue but hopefully they can improve that somehow. It would naturally have been great to have stayed at Goodison but they could not really do much to improve it and in these money orientated days had little choice but to go for a new stadium. It's the only way they could ever hope to compete again, with money being the prime consideration. . Do any of you guys know if The Cabin night club is still open these days ? I used to often go there in the 80s/90s when in the city, bit spit and sawdust but a great night. |
|
By:
The seated stads. did for me. You simply were locked in and couldn’t move away from yobs and chavs - and let’s face it, every club has them. Had a great spell early to late eighties then chucked it.

Deal for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to join Everton agreed apparently. Could be a good signing, never really thought he would get enough game time at Chelsea and so it proved.
|
|
By:
i certainly wouldnt want to be at sandhills after the derby match
There was talk of a train link to the station but seems to have been all talk Parking is limited, the roads arent great, so logistically it is going to be difficult presumably busing the supporters in Dixie the Cabin Club has been shut many years probably decades |
|
By:
Thanks Rothko - just did a bit of digging and found an Echo article about it closing, said it shut in 2015. Few archive photos on there, made me feel old !
Apparently the building was renovated and reopened as a live music venue called Jimmy's in 2019 - and then shut down again in 2023. Sign of the times. |

England midfielder Jack Grealish's loan move from Manchester City to Everton includes a £50m option to buy the 29-year-old next summer.
if u can get him to restore his mojo this cd be a really smart move |

Cabin's long gone I'm afraid. Was empty for years then become part of some shiny place which has since shut down itself. They always had a deal on for NHS staff didn't they so there were always lots of young nurses there. Miss those days of bouncing between there and the Raz and then maybe up to the Parrot or that one on the side of Bold Street just on the edge of the railway bridge (name escapes me). |

Shame about The Cabin PoP, used to really enjoy going there, bit of a throwback. Our paths may have unknowingly crossed !
I see The Grafton is being demolished and flats built there i believe. Another old building bites the dust, i know it had a bit of a reputation but i had some fun times on the few occasions i went there. There was a club at Aintree we went to a couple of times, big old gaff, think it was Fallows ? Probably shut now too. |
|
By:
Hadn't heard about the grafton. Makes sense though. All those out of towns clubs are well gone now.
Yeah, there was Fallows in Aintree. The big one was the Paradox. Remember going there on a midweek night once in the mid nineties. Had gone to the game and the reds put in one of those desultory performances that were common back then. Might well have been any one of those many cup losses to a lower league team. We decided to drown our sorrows and see if going clubbing would brighten our mood. Worked for an hour or so and then Redknapp, Ruddock and James rocked up, happy as larry, all look at me big-charlie bollocks. Anyway, I got kicked out for giving them a mouthful and that was the cherry on the cake of that particular evening. |
|
By:
Used to go to the Grafton quite often, grab a granny night was Thursdays as that when they got their benefits/pay. Sometimes spent an hour or 2 in the Carlton Casino which was on the end of the same block before I went in. Life was so much more simple then.

Everton boss David Moyes gave an assessment on the Toffees' transfer window so far: "We are pleased with the players we have added, but I am not pleased because I think I still need more. We want to continue to adding to what we have because we are short in certain areas.
"We have got some good business done but I would like more if possible." He was asked if three or four more signings would be enough: "I could say even more possibly - but I would settle for those numbers if I can get it." He was specifically asked about the need for a right-back: "We may try and get a right-back but at the moment we might have other priorities." |
|
By:
Pre season hasn't been the best but the recent signings will have lifted the mood.
Right back is probably not the number one priority as Jake O'Brien can fill in if needed like last season under Moyes (for some bizarre reason Sean didn't play him). Paterson may well get the chance to cement the position, if so i hope he takes it. |
|
By:
If the transfer fee for patterson reported was correct, he must be worst buy Everton ever made.
|
|
By:
Looks like half of the Everton defenders have knocks and may miss Monday's game including Patterson. Def no Branthwaite
![]() Malay, i'm afraid that given the clubs wretched recruitment of recent times that Nathan is well down the list of worst buys, i give you (in no particular order ), Davy Klaassen, Morgan Schneiderlin, Yannick Bolasie, Cenk Tosun , Neil Maupay. The list goes on, unfortunately ! |

Dixie I think Leeds will beat Everton on Monday, I think it's a match they need to be looking to win.
I don't support either team, and I know nothing is done on day 1 of season. I just think it's a game leeds management team will be thinking we need to win this and I'm sure they will be ready for it. |
