Half that PSG team played Nations League after the CL. Maresca got his tactics right and that was as significant as Palmer. Chelsea will be a contender next season but will likely fall away and players completely cooked for the WC, which will be in the same heat. 6 or 7 games stopped for weather events (lightning mainly).
No player for a euro team is as up for that as a CL QF leg, even if they wanted to be (which they clearly don't and can't be). If the Saudis don't pump another 1bn+ in in 4 years, what happens? |

Chelsea esp their keeper were never to be beaten; PSG were below par. Nevertheless, the Chelsea keeper was invincible, and kept out everything at the crucial stage of the game. He did not let PSG get back into the game.
Well done Chelsea! One over The Gunners. It's been a long while since their Champions League triumph. |

PSG will walk all over Chelsea. I think a 3 goal margin for them. How on earth did they draw with a virtual unknown earlier in the competition? I think PSG was 1/15 to win then. Blake@1658 11 Jul 25 07:06 On all known form PSG will dispose of Chelsea with the minimum of fuss. As the late Jimmy Greaves once said though "It's a funny old game." gambling is a mugs game imo. |

You can add me to that list Rico; I didn't see it coming and I also had a punt on PSG in 90. Fair play to Chelsea, a very respectable win.
|
|
By:
Odd that PSG played all those other games but decided not to turn up for the final. A 12-month long season is probably the reason. It's bonkers.

I think Maresca played a trump card by choosing to target Mendez on the left side. This opened up gaps for the Chelsea players to exploit to the tune of 3 goals within 45 mins. In addition to this astute tactical move their keeper played a blinder too on the day which were too much for PSG to overcome.
The better team won on the day. Chelsea grasped their opportunities with both hands. |
