Well, if you did have to pick one club that was the biggest and best in the world, you'd probably say Real. But it's just standard "was a childhood fan" stuff that always gets said at these things.

Now, today, comes the news that Liv are on the verge of smashing the British Transfer Record for purchases with FLorian Wirtz. So all that self righteous moaning about the spending of City and Chelsea has been contradicted in one instant.. Liv like to pretend they are a special football club. Must leave the reds with a significant issue to deal with because Robertson’s form has gone south for me and replacing two talented, attacking, productive full backs will not be easy. |

So refreshing to see an English player reaching out to the bigger world, most of them are spoilt for life by the time they reach 21. And of course Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world. It's not even a debate, except with Barcelona fans. |

No way should he have said that, he obviously wants to get off on the rght foot and is desperate to ingratiate himself with the fans but he could have said any manner of things that would have achieved all of that without saying those words.
No thought whatsoever about the day some time in the future when it's all over when it will be the Liverpool fans hearts that he'd want to be held in and not the Madrid ones....naive in the extreme IMO. Let's see how he feels if it doesn't go well, he can ask Bale all about that and he won them a CL. |

If Liverpool fans are serious in disputing the fact that Real Madrid are, and since the inception of the European Cup in the sixties have been, a bigger club than theirs then they need to get real. No pun intended. What Liverpool have achieved in Europe is brilliant and they should be rightly proud but they will never be a “bigger” club than Real. |

never say never LH.. RM are of course funded and continually bailed out finanacially by the city of Madrid and therefore have always had an edge in that area.

I can understand that. They do have that I agree which gives them a huge advantage. But money now does throughout football, through every level, which is my point really.
I was brought up on a diet of Liverpool, Shankly, Paisley and all of that brilliance, recently emulated by Klopp etc; Unforgettable stuff but in terms of something I can’t really explain Real are at the top of the pyramid for me. |

It is, as ever, all about opinions. I don’t know all of the right backs in the world, but I know the English ones, and he certainly has for me always been better than Walker.
