Letting your contract drift and leaving for nothing can definitely be seen as stiffing the club in some way.
No player owes a club anything beyond their contract.
TAA cost Liverpool nothing and if they wanted money for him they should have sold him a couple of years ago.

Just look at how Liverpool and Carragher have treated Salah who is a fine role model as a footballer and human being and worth his weight in gold. Lets see how much it costs Liverpool to replace his goals, assists, winning mentality and example.TAA is right to leave Liverpool for money, lifestyle and better football and quality of life. We shall see what Liverpool will win next season.
How have Liverpool treated Salah?

Not 100% sure. Has he been offered a new contract? how many years? I dont think jamie carragher has treated him very well.
We don't know. We know they've spoken to his reps on a number of occasions but obviously nothing agreed yet. Is that wrong iyo?

Liverpool are in a tight spot with Salah, he's old and they have to consider his falling off a cliff that will happen all at once, they can't afford to be sat there with him on an almighty contract if his form goes for the last time, his form is season has been incredible, so incredible that it should be looked on as an outlier, particularly at his age with it being realistic to expect it to not be repeated.
We talked about this a few weeks ago.
With sports science where it is, it's likely both the club and Salah himself have a good idea where the big drop will come. You could judge him on the last few weeks and wonder if it's arrived as he's been garbage for a bit. Hopefully, it isn't the case and it's just a blip and he goes on this way for years yet.
But the contract is almost certainly just wrangling over that. He'll wait £200k pw for another 3 years and the club will be worrying about being lumbered with an expensive dud for half that time. I reckon it'll get sorted out like, and it should really have been by now but on the face of it both the club and the player are doing alright while the negotiations are going on, so [shrugs shoulders].
As for Carragher, I don't really know what he's said or care particularly. He's an ex-player and in the media industry where it's necessary to take a contrary view occasionally to keep his profile up. But every decision has a knock on. Give Salah a bumper deal then other players and their agents will know, play hardball and maybe tell him to get stuffed and likewise. Best you can do is make what you feel is the right decision and handle it in the right way. If outsiders looking in want to get a couple of headlines then that's fine as long as they don't cross the line.
