although he must be a bit nervous on his debut, hasn't looked international class tonight, skinned twice and lost an aerial duel at his height, which led to  a charge on goal, only saved by Konsa, in fact all 3 mistakes led to promising Albanian attacks. Also don't know why at times he's found himself in the oppositions last third when there's not a corner, watching him run back with his long lanky legs is a bit comical, I like him like everyone else but England need Stones back as soon as IMO.

there is a reason why he wasnt selected before he reached 32

Probably fell asleep thinking it was a library

Wembley looks so weird with people sat down, and Curtis Jones being on the winning side.

Shouldn't be anywhere near the England team, ridiculous selection.

I think for a debut he did well (against Albania). Maybe last night his height was a gigantic advantage, and a fact-finding exercise by Tuchel. At 32 his age would probably have precluded his entry into the England team most of the time.

I went to the game - Albania realised they could target him a bit too late. He couldn't deal with Broja. He looked very slow and clunky

caveat that he might have been on the píss all week Laugh but agree, nice story and nice gimmick at set pieces but he will cost us goals if we play him against better opposition

he's not a possession defender either, every time he was taking an extra touch which allowed Albania to get set in their low block, we need lads who can move the ball a bit quicker

Guehi and Konsa

Now we have a person who can play left back but is ashley a very good footballer is a huge bonus.

Not sure wot happens at right back but it is not a problem position.  The rest of the back 4 is taking shape.

Radhford, Kane, Saka I am happy with.

Bellingham at 10

Just balance the midfield. I thought Jones looked decent as did Mainoo and Gomes.

Foden covers Bellingham on the bench with Palmer, Watkins, Gordon, then you potentially have Grealish for tournaments to win a free kick if we are losing or hold the ball if we are winning.

Let’s see where this goes

Newcastle have 3 better english left backs than skelly.

Burn wasn't expected to play for Newcastle this season
with Hall at left back and Botman left side centre back.

Burn played 36 games plus one for engerland.

Can't expect to throw a defence together and
not get caught out now and again.

Great to see him get a cap, but maybe we have
better options to start for England.

Think he was a fair enough squad selection with a few injured but very surprised he played ahead of Guehi especially - maybe wanted a left footed cb for balance but not sure that's required..in any case Colwill who is left footed would have also made more sense with a view to the tournament proper with Burn already 32..he's highly unlikely to be starting for England in 15 months time

not the only questionable selection with Foden again proving he doesn't often do a lot for England when played wide and remarkable that Rashford got a start as well..

2 games, plenty of minutes for them all.

WALOFS

Another trait of ingerlund fans is there snobbery toward any new players or perceived outsiders getting a squad selection.
While they tolerate and defend to the death established footballers who have shown they will never win so much as a village raffle with the national team.
Burn deserves a run in the side.
After all he cant be any worse than Maguire. Who 'never let his country down' supposedly. Apart from the time he got sent off. Or when he let Oliver Giroud beat him to the ball in the Qatar quarter final.
Report Flemenstar March 27, 2025 12:12 AM GMT
it's not a binary choice Burn or Maguire though is it. Plenty of other capable defenders out there who have a bit of pace also
