I was taught how to disarm and kill a German sentry by the time I was 5 years old. Some of us were born less than 20 years after the end of the Second World War. Prejudices and fear continued with our parents and grandparents . I would like to think our generation has mostly over come those feelings.

I have to say dragon I was a little shocked at some of the things you said but also found it funny and imagine you were in a state of deep melancholy remembering your dear old Da and Grand Parents! Those attitudes prevailed particularly in Kent where I grew up. They/we hated the Germans for the war but our contempt was saved for the French and their capitulation. The “ Itaies “ were regarded as a joke as were foreign goalies except Lev Yashin until Sepp Maier broke the mold.

I do like a good rant and good to see people taking it for what it was!
