If Amad is on 28k a week he must be one of the lowest paid players in the league. He'll want to do a lot more than double his wages. Ashley Cole was offered 55k a week in 2005 and considered it an insult.

Lisandro Martinez was lauded by the moronic fans. Souness rightly called out the comical joke of putting a 5 foot midget in as center back in the PL. He then chucked in an fake injury pre world cup to make sure he was fit for Argentina. An utter disgrace and not a word against him.

Luke Shaw is overweight and literally always injured. He'll have a testimonial and still fans say he should be kept under Amorim.

Eriksen a literal heart attack victim in central midfield ffs

Always said every new manager needs 3 years to get every player that want in, in, and every player that want out, out, but must demonstrate during that time they know what they're doing. That's roughly what it took both Klopp and Arteta to build their own squads and shed the clothes worn by the previous manager to get them into contention, you could see they were the right managers despite the league finishing positions with manybe the whole Aubameyang thing being the only real mistake from Mikel. Klopp finished 8th-4th-4th before they started to really challenge win a runners up spot before eventually winning the title, Arteta similar with 8th, 8th 5th then finished runners up twice but succumbing to key injury to Saliba replaced by Holding who was horrific, both Klopp and Arteta were unlucky they also ran into Peak City who were cooking the books.

United are a huge oil tanker of a club that needs a big wide circle turn to get them back on track, they still have players at the club bought under managers stretching as far back as Van Gaal 10 years ago with Shaw and Rashford brought through, to Jose with Lindloft and Dalot, to Solskjaer with Maguire and Fernandes to Ten Haag and dross brough in such as Anthony and De Ligt, every single one of them needs to be sold, every single one of them on huge contracts, every single one of them undoubtedly unwanted by Almorim maybe bar Bruno, though he is a useless captain.

So it's stupid to write off Almorim right now, it's obvious he needs time, however you do have to question his 343 formation, when has a 343 formation ever won the Premier League, Fergie and Wenger were pretty much 442 men, Jose's Chelsea played 433, Conte was a 352 men making sure the midfield controlled the game, Klopp was 433, Ancelotti switch from a diamond to 433, Pep's has been fluid but is in essence 3-2-4-1 when everyone's fit. 343 can work is slower leagues like Portugal but in fast paced leagues like the Premier League that system makes it much easier for the opposition to get in between the lines.

United's current use of wing back are no where near good enough to sustain attacking proficiency and defensive stability at the same time, no chance he fancies Luke Shaw when he happens to be available, it's compounded with the fact they have slow, ageing centre mids like Casemiro and Eriksen not really able to provide any cover sufficiently whatsoever. That's why he needs time and windows to get all of his own players in before he can be judged properly with the system he wants to use. Look at the dross Klopp had at first and what he ended up with. Night and day.

I will laugh along the way as they look to avoid scraping relegation then working their way up the table to play Conference league football, but the reality is with the financial backing behind the club and a proper manager in place, it is only a matter of when not if United will be back challenging for titles again as long as they stop signing ridiculously bad players on ridiculously high wages making nigh on impossible to offload them when needed, will probably look to be in title challenging shape from the beginning of the 2027/28 season.

Kind Regards.

He does need time and I think he is a good coach, but I was reminded of why Liverpool decided not to go with him. They simply thought his style and set up wouldn't suit our current squad and would need too big an overhaul. Looking at Utd, it's clear that no-one playing has the remotest idea what they're doing and just can't get to grips with his system.

I think he needs to be a bit pragmatic and play the best system for the current players, and then switch once he has a full pre-season of training and is able to mould the squad into something more suitable. If he doesn't it's likely that results will continue in a similar vein and he'll lose the confidence of the players and those above him, and make the turnaround that much harder to complete.

Report brentford December 31, 2024 12:57 PM GMT
Needs to stop making as many changes in the league at least..has been a constantly revolving XI..added to installing a totally different playing idea..

Last night Fernandes and Ugarte (who has done quite well recently) not available didn't help but the whole Utd fanbase would have collectively groaned the moment they saw Eriksen and Casemiro paired in MF against a high tempo/pretty high quality side..Mainoo, Collyer or Mazroui even as a makeshift cmf would obviously have been better options than one or other of the two that started..

Yorro has been eased back in enough after injury that he should now be starting and RA needs to start playing with a consistent selection back 3/5 in league games at least otherwise is just exacerbating the lack of training time with current game demands.

He's not going to change the system fundamentally - his whole playing structure is based around one system.
I would be surprised if it doesn't start to improve a little once they have more days on the training pitch but the damage to confidence of players, fans, owners alike is already significant and makes the whole job a lot tougher going forward.

He isn't the right man and wasn't from the start, said before, bring him in to paint his pretty pictures once the fire is out but don't ask him to put the fire out because that's not him, the job will ruin him , he was the latest fad and United and many fans got excited at the flash of a bit of leg!!

It's not as simple as binning off the wasters because while you're doing that you still need to achieve some kind of level of acceptability which, playing the way that Amorim wants to with the players he has got will be unachievable.

Look at what's already happening, the pressure and performances will be such that he'll expire before he gets anywhere near.
Report lurka December 31, 2024 5:25 PM GMT
The last 3 managers have all got the best out of the players available at some point and united are further away than ever with some of the same players still on the books.

The club and fans need to accept that a mid-table finish while getting rid of the dross is acceptable for 2-3 years. INEOS in particular as they're the ones who backed ETH in the transfer market last summer and that looks to have set them back at least another year in terms of getting bad signings off the books/replaced.

Back Amorim and encourage him to use some of the younger players we haven't seen yet. It took Arteta 2.5 years before Arsenal were even top 4 level and he started off playing in a way that didn't suit the players he had, with Auba playing on the left or as a false 9 and the team scoring a paltry amount of goals. The financial mess/squad at United is even worse but the job is very similar. Doubt the owners or fans will give him sufficient backing tho.
