Man United have a tough start. Rashford would be better off waiting 10 games, and maybe United will get Emery in.

Rashford turned unprofessional, for whatever reason, while ETH was in charge, almost as soon as they gave him 325k a week on a long contract and then signed Ronaldo and made him serve up assists to him. It predates Amorim, so don't be blaming him or saying he's a dedicated pro etc.
Ronaldo left about 8 months before the big money deal was signed, he got it on the back of a 30 goal season and having only one year left on his current contract with PSG (and others) looking at picking him up on a free potentially (aka doing a Trent).. |

Remember what Amorim said.... he’d rather play his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach, Jorge Vital, than a player not fully committed
Maybe that’s why United just avoided relegation? United have a huge problem and a crumbling stadium. Arsenal are a well run club still without a centre forward. Liverpool have just bought 4 players that make them better and are prepared for when Salam eventually goes. United do not have a defence….. is that Rashfords fault? |

Rashford clealy isn't the cause of all Utd's problems but he was hardly helping,
if you manage to fall out with a coach within the first month because your training levels and attitude are sub par you need to take some responsibility for that. |

Yeah I was wrong about the timeline but he went from playing well to having to provide for Ronaldo then playing well again under ETH and then awful the following year (right after his big deal) and looking like he wasn't interested. It goes back to OGS/Rangnick and ETH era. Not a new thing under Amorim. There's an unprofessional attitude going back a long time and Amorim saw it from the start.

Indeed, I've no problem with Amorim trying to set some standards (as at times with ETH)..needs to get the team playing better pretty swiftly though..

Selling Rashford would have been the dream scenario for United but make no mistake, Barcelona taking him , and he's their plan B or C remember and being prepared to cover his wages is an absolute stonking result for United.
Rashford had gone wrong way before Amorim turned up, this all started after the new contract and began when ETH was in charge. Now he can go to Barca and prove how good he is and whast fools United have been, all the motivation in the world is there for him...go on Marcus, show us!!!! |

Have faith brentford, it's a simple game, get proper good players on the pitch and things improve, we've just signed two of those which is a departure to the normal way of things through the past ten years and something that took me by surprise, I keep saying and do believe that improvement or otherwise is not linear, a couple signings will improve things massively and will rub off on those around them enabling others to perform better also.
Yes we need more but we'll begin to build on the positivity that these will create now.  |

Centre mid remains a massive concern (he doesn't fancy Mainoo and Ugarte went out of favour at the end of the season..)
with the players brought in you'd assume he has a view to playing Fernandes deep, if that's with Cas' not too much will change imo..hopefully it's in the thinking before season start.. despite all the stick Hojlund has had in the media he's more than capable of a 15-20 goal season with a team playing well around him which is why the Italian clubs keep hoping to getting him cheap.. GK also time to at least get some competition for Onana, possibility of getting the young keeper in from Antwerp but that's a speculative punt rather than a solid option.. |

Agree with all of that apart from Holund long term, Mainoo, Cas, Mount, Hojlund, Onana Shaw and even Amad in the end I reckon wouldn't survive, my point is that even with all of that I think that those signings we've made along with a decent striker will take up a lot of the slack and see improvement whilst we remedy the rest.

Rashford is guaranteed a place on the subs bench at the Nou Camp. Whether he gets any meaningful playing time is a different matter.

Marcus Rashford says he feels like he is "at home" at Barcelona after completing a season-long loan move to the La Liga club.
The 27-year-old has joined on an initial 12-month loan from Manchester United, with the Catalan giants having the option of signing the England international on a permanent basis for £30.3m (35m euros) in 2026. He is the first English player to sign for Barcelona, who won the league and cup double last season, since Gary Lineker in 1986. Rashford hasn't played for Manchester United, his boyhood club, since last December after being dropped by manager Ruben Amorin, and spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Aston Villa. In July, it was confirmed that he was one of five players to tell the club that he wanted to leave. "I'm very excited," Rashford told Barcelona's YouTube channel. "It's a club where people's dreams come true, they win big prizes. "What the club stands for means a lot for me. I feel like I'm at home and a big factor in my choice to come here is because it is a family place and a good place for good players to showcase their skills. "Another factor is because the conversations I had with [Hansi Flick] were positive. What he did last season was terrific. To lead such a young team to a very successful season and come back to pre-season and still want to do more, it shows me everything I thought I knew about the club and it's everything I wished. "I'm eager to learn the Barcelona way." Barcelona will cover the entirety of Rashford's wages during his time at the club after the forward agreed to take a pay cut. Removing Rashford from the wage bill is expected to save United between £14-£15m over the next 12 months. The England international trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Tuesday and is expected to be included in the squad that travels to Japan for a pre-season tour of Asia on Thursday. The move sees the forward leave the Premier League for the first time in his career. Rashford has scored 138 goals in 426 matches for Manchester United since making his debut for the club in 2016 and won five major trophies. He is 15th on the club's all-time scorers list, having emerged from United's academy. |

How exactly is he getting into this team with Yamal and Raphina on either wing and Lewandowski up top, seems to me he'g taken a pay cut to warm the bench at Barca and will miss out on a World Cup place, so will probably be farmed out on loan in Jan to Real Sociedad or some such club.

New Barcelona signing Marcus Rashford will make his home debut on Sunday, facing Como in a final friendly before the onset of La Liga.
But it's not exactly the first appearance in his new city that Rashford would have envisaged. The game will be played inside Barca's training ground, with his availability for next weekend's league opener still not guaranteed. |

In the their best Donald J Trump mode Sky have talked me into a deal to stay for at least 6 months so I'm back in the game tv wise.
I have to say I haven't been impressed with us pre season. It's the same old style with better forwards . Very little build up with most of our threat coming like it has for the last decade from fast transitions. Our lack of a midfield is going to seriously hurt us and Bruno neither has the skill set or discipline to play there unfortunately. His version of setting the tempo is to play blind passes and flicks at every opportunity and make it frantic. He offers no real presence or stability in there and it leaves whoever his partner will be to the wolves on his own. With the improved attack we should beat the cannon fodder and possibly get a few decent results against the better teams playing on the counter but it's against the ten or so teams in the middle of the league that we will really struggle against again. Those teams who are packed with pacey athlete's in the middle and flanks. We just have no one to nullify those type of players when we open up to try win a game. Even with all our new signings up front shoehorning Bruno into a central midfield two will be a disastrous hindrance to our build up and control of games. He'll still have him moments of course but I seriously doubt he'll be a net plus back there. |
