I'm pleased by Barnet's early form as they were my preseason pick to win this league. I think they should win well again although the price is a bit slender. Rochdale's poor results are surprising and I don't see any adverse transfer activity over the summer.

Watching brief on that one.
I like Gills v Northampton for unders, currently 1.82

Northampton haven't even looked like scoring in the first 2.
A 0-0 would be a result for us. Booed off at Crewe last week, going to be a long season.
Report DixieDean60 • August 27, 2026 8:40 PM BST
So Gills and Northampton haven't scored a goal between them so far (the only 2 sides in L2 who haven't netted).

Knowing this league, get on overs Laugh
Report DixieDean60 • August 29, 2026 5:09 PM BST
Well both teams managed a goal each at Priestfield - Gills scored one from two shots on target, Northampton had one shot on target and it went in.
So not a thriller (as expected).

Four goals at Grimsby in a 2-2 draw, so unders scuppered there for Dragon, along with Salford losing again and Barnet drawing. But at least Gills obliged for unders and Colchester saw off Rochdale. so probably even stevens on the betting front for Dragon. Foin successfully tipped unders in the Gills game as well.

This league is proving very hard to predict as it was last year. Who would have thought Salford the AP favs would have lost their first three ?
Report Foinavon • August 29, 2026 5:25 PM BST
I thought my unders bet was sure to lose after the Northampton equaliser. I watched the Barnet game on TV and thought that Cheltenham were unlucky not to win. They certainly deserved the point and several very good chances went begging. Barnet looked very ordinary and they will need to do better than this if they want to be promoted.
York seem to have adapted well and I was pleased that Colu won with their late goal.
Still only fun-sized bets for me at this stage.
Report The Dragon • September 1, 2026 7:40 AM BST
yes broadly the same here foin, don’t really get going until 5/6 games completed.

disappointing weekend in this division for me overall as expected more from salford and barnet. colu obliged and overs did ok

full set of fixtures tonight with nothing i am interested in - watching brief tonight.

swindon v port vale looks like an unders game at evens with both teams only netting 3 goals between them in 3 games so far
Report Foinavon • September 1, 2026 11:08 AM BST
There are 4 odds on favourites, Bristol R., Chesterfield. Northampton and Salford. I have layed them all to small amounts. Not much to inspire confidence as yet.
Report DixieDean60 • September 1, 2026 2:00 PM BST
I wouldn't be confident about backing any of those odds on shots apart from Bristol Rovers and even they have a tough game against Colchester.

Salford have lost 3 out of 3 and even though they are at home against one of the relegation favs in Newport i couldn't go near them at 4/7 or similar.

Northampton have only scored one goal so far and opponents Crawley won away at Rochdale a couple of weeks back after an unlucky last gasp defeat against Crewe. They were second best against Bristol Rovers on Saturday but overall i'm struggling to see why Northampton are so short in the betting for this one. They may well win but have to be swerved  at odds on.

The Gills away at Chesterfield is an interesting match. The home side haven't looked anything special and have lost 2 out of 3 including their only home game to Fleetwood.
Gills have only scored one goal in their first three games but have created chances and have hit the woodwork five times so far. At the odds , Gills at a general 9/2 look worth chancing a shekel or two.

Elsewhere, Cheltenham looked pretty good at Barnet on Saturday as Foin said above. Odds of approx 5/2 at home against York look a tad generous and on value terms alone are tempting.
Report DixieDean60 • September 1, 2026 9:56 PM BST
Salford were seven minutes away from another defeat but managed to turn it round at the death to get their first win of the season. Turning point for them ?

chesterfield and Northampton were unable to land the odds and both drew at home.

Cheltenham a nice 5/2 winner for me Cool

Out of the 12 matches, no less than 7 were draws and the other 5 games were home wins. No away teams victorious at all.

Two lays from 4 guaranteed a small profit. It looked like it was going to be 3 until Salford's two late goals. A good point for Gills away to Chesterfield.
Cheltenham confirmed the good form shown at Barnet as York are no pushover, one to watch.

Walsall,s away form is pretty solid for most of last season and at the start of this and i fancy them to get something at Exeter. away win is 15/8.

Bristol Rovers 1.70  should be to good for Rotherham and Fleetwood shd beat Shrewsbury at around evens.

This week I've backed Fleetwood (1.91), York (2.6) and Newport at a generous 5.2. Still minimum stakes at this stage. Good luck if you are having a bet tomorrow.
Report Foinavon • September 5, 2026 7:27 PM BST
Only Fleetwood obliged for me today, York could only draw and Newport lost to a late goal yet again. Gills scoring 4 was a surprise, an easy win for a change. Bristol Rovers are starting to look like a banker now with 4 wins in a row.
Report DixieDean60 • September 5, 2026 9:01 PM BST
Bristol Rovers are on a roll, it was a close game today, Rotherham hit the bar late on so could have grabbed a point. Two away games for Rovers against Grimsby and Gills coming up next, so we may have a clearer picture of how the land lies in this topsy turvy league then.

It was indeed a pleasant surprise to see the Gills bag a few goals today but as i have said previously they have created chances in previous games but a combination of poor finishing and the woodwork denied them, not so today Cool Hopefully the tide has turned for them.

Salford nicked another win following their late comeback in midweek, but it was courtesy of a goalkeeping howler by the Port Vale "stopper" Cry
They haven't been very impressive so far and don't really look like favs to win the league but it is still early doors of course.

did ok last weekend with wins for Fleetwood and Bristol Rovers.

Rovers are away at Grimsby who lie to draw games- I reckon it will be overs with maybe a possible away win?

Fleetwood are of interest again with an away game at faltering Newport but not quite strong enough to get me involved.

Not sure why Swindon (won 3 in 4) who are in second place are 4/1 at York (won 1 in 4) and Northampton at 15/8 away at Shrewsbury could also be of interest.

Walsall and Barnet maybe the home wins?

all a bit tight so not backed any yet. Any views?

I'm considering backing Walsall and Cheltenham, the Dragon and agree that most games look difficult this week. Those two I mentioned are odds against and are playing teams which have had a poor start to the season.
Report Foinavon • September 12, 2026 10:45 PM BST
A win for Chelters at a nice price (2.8). Walsall should have been the icing on the cake but failed to score.
Barnet lead the table and a good win for York in the week I didn't back them.
Report DixieDean60 • September 12, 2026 11:19 PM BST
Cheltenham are certainly being underestimated by the bookies at the moment, they will cotton on soon.

The Gills obliged today as well at 8/5 odds, 2-0 against Tranmere. They are starting to find the net now, hopefully this will continue for us Gills fans Grin
They face Bristol Rovers next weekend, who got a reality check at Grimsby today and will be looking to bounce back. Steve Evans returning to one of his former clubs, something of course that he is quite used to doing Laugh

Swindon getting trounced by York was a bit surprising, but just shows the unpredictable nature of this division.
Report Foinavon • September 13, 2026 10:44 AM BST
Yes, I think you are right about Cheltenham, Dixie.
Looking at next week, two home teams stand out to me, Grimsby at home to Crawley and Crewe at home to Shrewsbury. I will back them subject to fair pricing. The other games look difficult to judge as usual. Of those, Salford seem to be getting their act together and may win again but not to be trusted just yet.

I was unhappy with Walsall's performance last week and while they should win I have decided to give them a miss today. Port Vale, who were promoted during 24/25 season, seem to be in a doom loop following relegation and might go down again. I have yet to watch them play.

They were fairly evenly matched during the first half apart from the goal but Walsall dominated the second with much more possession even though the second goal came late on. Port Vale had some chances but never looked like converting any, only one shot on target as I remember.

Teenager Sheldon Walker came off the bench in the 83rd minute and scored twice !  Great day for the lad Grin
Report DixieDean60 • September 19, 2026 9:02 PM BST
Just checked the odds for the outrights on L2 - Gills are now 66/1 with 1/4 the odds first 3 Shocked.

Since the first day home defeat (where they peppered the Walsall goal before conceding 3 late goals) they have drawn 3 in a row followed by winning 3 in a row.
In those wins they have score 9 goals without conceding.
And they have a number of absentees who are due to come back from injury in the coming weeks.

It may be a bit fanciful to suggest they could win the league but those odds look far too big to me and they are also quoted at 10/1 for promotion.
Given the open nature of the league, worth investing a few shekels from a value perspective alone.
Report Foinavon • September 19, 2026 10:15 PM BST
Yes, a great win for Gills. As I said at the time, I intended to back them for the first few games as they had started so well in previous seasons before fading as winter approached. Unfortunately, that first day blank put me offSad. Oh ye of little faithBlush
Of my selections, Crewe only managed to draw and Grimsby won so a half point loss on the day.
Barnet won well to lead the table by 2 points and Salford did enough and are steadily climbing into the top half after their poor start.
Report DixieDean60 • September 19, 2026 10:38 PM BST
Unlucky with Crewe there Foin, they had an injury time "winner" ruled out for offside and the goal they conceded was from an intercepted back pass.
That said it seems the Shrews were worth a point overall and are gradually improving so are worth keeping on the right side of.

The Gills were a general 25/1 at the start of the season, they are now 3 points off the top and looking pretty good but are available at 66/1.
Maybe the odds compilers know something i don't, but I just don't get it Crazy

Report DixieDean60 • September 20, 2026 2:42 PM BST
Salford have found their feet now after that poor start and will surely push for promotion.

Barnet don't play for the next 2 weekends now due to the wretched elongated international break (they have call ups) and so will slip down the table a bit as a result.
Will be interesting to see how the outright market shapes up after that.

foin - Gills are still 66s on Sportsbook ?  As they are with Sky, Paddys, VCBet.

They have a very difficult away trip to York next week and the home side are very short at about 1/2, no way i'd take that, although in fairness i have no real idea how good this York side is yet so the match will be informative.
Report Foinavon • September 20, 2026 3:38 PM BST
Yes, I took some on sportsbook and layed off some on the exchange at 26. I see that 19 to back is the best offer now.
Report Foinavon • September 20, 2026 3:49 PM BST
I think that 1/2 for a York win is wrong as Gills are very capable of shutting them out for a draw. I might risk a lay nearer the time.
Report The Dragon • September 23, 2026 9:13 AM BST
Here are a few thoughts on the weekends fixtures:

Not sure why Gills are 9/2 on here away at York this weekend. They have won 3 on the bounce and unbeaten in 6 and have scored 11 and conceded 1 in last 3.

York only won two in last 6 games but are strong at home. The lay of York is currently 1.62.

You would fancy Salford to win at Oldham given the current form of both teams and I was surprised to see that Oldham are favs for the game. Salford available at 7/4. Local derby maybe a factor on the pricing.

Grimsby are odds on to win at Newport and should oblige but i think they are a bit short given both teams draw records.

Bristol Rovers 8/11 must have a good chance of breaking their losing sequence at home to Exeter who have lost every away game and not won in five.

Not sure what is going on at Swindon and they are proving to be very inconsistent. Won 3 lost 3 in the last 6. They are very good at home with a 3/3 wins ratio. Probably to good for Accrington who have lost every away game and won 1 in 6.Swindon at 6/5 is very tempting.

No comments on other games.

Any views?
Report Foinavon • September 23, 2026 9:58 AM BST
A good summary, The Dragon. I still prefer a lay of York keeping the draw onside. Bristol R, Salford and Swindon would be my choices too in that order of preference. A pity the Crawley game has been postponed.
Fleetwood v Rochdale looks like a low score draw, maybe 0-0 which I might risk a shilling or two on.
Report The Dragon • September 23, 2026 11:21 AM BST

Report DixieDean60 • September 23, 2026 4:02 PM BST
Cheltenham again a decent price considering they are at home against Chesterfield.
The away side are improving nicely but are a bit short for me.

No result in this league could really be called a surprise on the evidence so far, therefore going for the bigger priced teams may continue to be profitable.

Gills lost 4-1 at home to Cambridge in the mickey mouse cup last night which looks bad on the face of it but virtually the whole side was fringe players and youngsters.
Bradley Dack did get on for the second half on his return from injury and looked (naturally enough) far from match fit. Hopefully he will be a factor for them going deeper in to the season as at his best he is much too good for this division. Gills do have strength in depth but it's finding the right combination/formation that will be the key to their season. York away this Saturday is bound to be tough and hopefully will tell us more about the Gills prospects.
Report Foinavon • September 26, 2026 10:02 PM BST
A good win for Salford at a nice price, let's hope the market keeps underestimating them. Cheltenham won again, good pick Dixie. Gills were disappointing at York but the home side are making an impact on their return to the league. Bristol Rovers also kept up their challenge at the top. The surprise of the day was Newport beating high flying Grimsby, you can't write off anybody in this league.
Report DixieDean60 • September 26, 2026 11:02 PM BST
That's certainly true Foin, absolutely no result is a true surprise in this league.

Salford are beginning to look ominous after their poor start cost them ground. Cheltenham have to be kept on the right side of all the time the layers underestimate them.

The Gills were torn a new one by York today, 3 nil flattered the away side as it could have been 5 or 6.  The solidity of the last few weeks was totally missing and Gareth Ainsworth must be scratching his head at such a poor effort. Newport at home for them next week and that won't be easy.

I had a good day today, did 4 draws in trebles and acca in L1 and L2 and remarkably all 4 were all losing scorelines at 90 mins but injury time goals in each of them landed the draws Shocked  Can't remember a bet changing fortune like that before Cool

This week I'm backing Grimsby, Rochdale and Cheltenham to win. Grimsby are strong at home and are playing Shrewsbury who have a poor away record. I don't expect many goals in this one but Grimsby will do enough.
Rochdale and Cheltenham are form teams at excellent prices (2.5 and 2.96 respectively on the exchange). Their opponents are struggling this season and Swindon especially are a disappointment after their good performance last season.
Report The Dragon • October 2, 2026 11:07 AM BST

i also think that Rotherham 7/4 and Gillingham 11/10 have great chances.
Report DixieDean60 • October 2, 2026 6:25 PM BST
The Gills had been in fine form before their humbling at York last week. A positive reaction will be needed to beat Newport tomorrow and the away side have been in fair form themselves. Newport are a bit of a bogey side for the Gills who have only won 2 of their last 10 against them, Newport winning 6. A very difficult game to call and the Gills are a bit too short for me, so no bet but good luck to Dragon and any others who do back them.

Cheltenham again look overpriced at 19/10 with most bookies for their away game at Accrington. The away side sit second in the table after 8 games and have already played a number of the fancied sides so it looks no fluke that they are up there. Stanley on the other hand are in 19th with just one win so far and that was against basement boys Crawley. On value grounds alone i have to back Cheltenham here.

Some burnt fingers for us all after today.

Stanley got Cheltenham in to a fine mess, the away side never at the races.

Gills only drew 0-0 with Newport and the away side had the better chances and will feel they should have won. Gills had lots of the ball but created little.

Grimsby lost at home to Shrewsbury and Bristol Rovers got stuffed on the road again at Crewe. Expect the unexpected each week in this league.

One team who are on a roll is Salford who have now gone top after 9 games, despite losing their first 3 Shocked.
Barnet in second are a point behind and do have 2 games in hand however.
Report Foinavon • October 4, 2026 10:43 AM BST
I don't regret backing Cheltenham, I do regret Grimsby this week and Walsall previously. Short priced "bankers" are often poor value in this league.
Report The Dragon • October 7, 2026 4:51 PM BST
A couple of weird early prices in this league at the weekend,

The first is Accrington at Oldham who are 9/2 on here. Oldham (1.62) have lost 4 on the bounce and only won 2 games all season. Accrington have lost 1 in 6 (to high flying Barnet) and beat a much fancied Cheltenham at the weekend. The prices make no sense and a lay of Oldham looks good value.

The other is Rochdale who are just under 3/1 on here away at Tranmere. Rochdale are on a roll after a dodgy start and have won 3 on the bounce and 4 out of 6. Only defeat was too inform Gills who beat them at home 1-4.Tranmere have won 1 in 6 games and have drawn 3 of those games.Tranmere are 11/10.

Still looking at the other fixtures but i was surprise by the prices in both of those matches.
Report The Dragon • October 7, 2026 4:55 PM BST
Tranmere to lay that is (11/10).

Barnet unbeaten away ( 11/5) look big at out of form Bristol Rovers (lost 3/4)
Report DixieDean60 • October 7, 2026 7:28 PM BST
Given the unpredictable nature of this league it makes sense to generally back the outsiders in what look like close games.
Accrington a case in point this week, although Oldham are ok at home with two wins so far and two defeats (against Salford and Chesterfield). However the Latics are too short at 4/6 and Accrington could be value.

Barnet are unbeaten so far and even though they have played two games less than most sides are the top scorers in the division with 17. They do look decent value at 2/1 or bigger but the caveat has to be that opponents Bristol Rovers have a stellar recent home record with 11 league wins on the bounce. It may be prudent to invest in Overs given both sides attacking capabilities.

Gills have had a wobble of late but if they can rediscover their goal touch then they look overpriced at 3/1 or bigger away to Rotherham who are finding wins hard to come by.

Just 3 points between the top 11 sides at the moment, so open.
Report Foinavon • October 7, 2026 8:38 PM BST
Sensible suggestions Dixie and the Dragon. I too will be ignoring the short priced jollies and will go for Accrington, Crewe and Grimsby. Gills came back from a goal down to hammer Rotherham 4-1. My team are a bit Jekyll and Hyde this season Grin

Accrington drew 0-0 with Oldham, poor game which the away side could have won. As opined above, Oldham were too short at around  4/6 so layers will be happy.

Salford got two more late goals to see off 10 man Cheltenham who seem to have gone off the boil.

Plenty of "coin toss2" games again this week, so as ever go for the bigger prices i reckon.

As Foin says, Newport look overpriced given they are at home. York have started the season well enough but are only 2 points above the Welsh outfit and so quite how they are quoted at odds on is a puzzle to me. May be best to just lay York.

Barnet are averaging 4 goals a game and are up against draw specialists Tranmere. A difficult one to call so Overs may be the bet.

Port Vale have finally started to get their act together, winning 2 of their last 3. A difficult game at home to Chesterfield looks draw material to me.

Colchester have underperformed this season and really need 3 points against Exeter to get their season going. The last six league fixtures for the Grecians have been a good cure for insomnia with a grand total of four goals to enjoy. The U's do have a goal in them and i expect them to win, probably to nil.

The Gills banged another four goals last night in the mickey mouse cup and they fielded a few players getting back to match fitness such as Eaves and Dack who both got on the scoresheet. Following their excellent away win at Rotherham last week they are on the road again at Accrington, a venue where the Gills have done very well over the years, with 5 wins and 3 draws from the last 8 visits. Not sure why Accrington are favs for this game but as we know anything can happen in this league. I will probably play the draw again.

Barnet nicked a win at Tranmere via a late penalty. The home side can count themselves unfortunate to lose.

Port Vale continued their recent improvement with a 1 nil win over Chesterfield. Vale are worth keeping on the right side of now.

Colchester huffed and puffed without looking like scoring against a very limited Exeter side in a nil nil yawn fest. As i mentioned above, Exeter games are not exactly a thrill a minute lately.

As for the Gills, yet another example of their jekyll and hyde season, stuffed 3-1 at Accrington and it could have been worse. Awful performance. Gareth Ainsworth reckons he has the best squad in League 2, it would be nice to see some regular evidence of that !

Yes, my selection lost again although it threatened to threaten for a while. This league has a tendency to grab you by the ankles and shake out your pockets. I think the Dragon did alright this week.
A good summary, Dixie, Crewe kept up the pressure and a good win for Shrews. My gloomy assessment for Grimsby was vindicated again but I forgot to lay them.
Report The Dragon • October 18, 2026 9:50 AM BST
did well with barnet but the oldham 4-1 win v Cheltenham hurt. i said it was a crazy price but it wasnt and i dont know how but they knewDevil

Salford won but only 2-1 and my antepost bet on Bristol Rovers is looking glum already having lost 5/6 matches.

Its a tipsy topsy league for sure.

Salford Barnet and crewe are pulling away from the rest with a 5 point cushion. they look the teams to be following currently along with port vale who have now won 3 out of 4 games
Report The Dragon • October 18, 2026 12:09 PM BST
crewe look big at 18/1 in the outrights given they are unbeaten after 11 games

Full set of fixtures tonight .

Ive had a dip on the following:

Barnet 8/15, Salford 6/4 Rochdale 11/4 and Shrewsbury 6/4.

Should be an interesting evening.
Report Foinavon • October 20, 2026 1:43 PM BST
I was tempted to blanket bet them all for 1-1 draw as 3 from 12 would show a nice profit. In the end I decided to lay Grimsby and Rotherham, both too short in my opinion at around 2.3
Report howard • October 20, 2026 1:49 PM BST
York City will win.  Top scorer Newby will replace suspended Malcomb.
Report Foinavon • October 20, 2026 10:59 PM BST
Both my bets won for a change which was a nice surprise. There were 3 1-1 draws too which would have netted at least 9 points profit for anyone brave enough to risk 12 points and do the blanket bet.
Amazingly, Salford are four points clear after 12 games given they lost the forst 3 at the start of the season. Barnet and Crewe both lost, the margin of Barnet's loss being the biggest surprise. Port Vale continue to climb away from the relegation zone with a useful point away at Gillingham and are one to watch.

I'd forgotten there was a full programme of fixtures until just before kick off, so no bets for me, just as well looking at the scores Laugh

Barnet getting stuffed at home by Swindon sums this league up, who could have forecast that ?

Salford won again at Bristol Rovers but rode their luck again as the home side missed a penalty. six wins in a row now for the table toppers. Rovers have slid down to 16th place and need to arrest the slide quickly as hopes of automatic promotion are already fading.

Cheltenham bounced back to form with a win against Fleetwood and York could only draw again and needed a last minute goal to do so against in form Accrington, who had missed chances to put the game to bed.

Just 7 points separate the clubs in 2nd and 18th at the moment Crazy
Report howard • October 21, 2026 9:55 AM BST
York's worst performance for some time. Need to play Banks further up the pitch ( joint 3rd for assists last season )  and Josh Stones back from injury.  Looking like Salford could pull away.
Report Foinavon • October 21, 2026 11:07 AM BST
Looking at Saturday's fixtures and early prices, I don't think Bristol Rovers should be deeply odds on to Swindon given the latter's victory over Barnet, likewise Chesterfield at home to Crewe.
Report Foinavon • October 21, 2026 11:16 AM BST
Promoted teams tend to do well in this league but unless they have the resources of a Wrexham, they need one or two seasons to consolidate before a second promotion. I think this applies to York so occasional setbacks aren't unexpected.
Report Foinavon • October 23, 2026 11:44 AM BST
In addition to the two lays mentioned above, I have backed Exeter currently around 2.5 to beat Fleetwood.
Exeter are unbeaten at home this season scoring 6 and conceding only 1 goal (to Walsall). Fleetwood have lost their last 3 away games, admittedly to strong teams. Exeter are strong defensively but don't score many so I'm minded to have a small saver on 0-0.

Three teams for me this weekend:

Barnet at 1.71, Exeter at 2.58 and Shrewsbury at 3.00.

Probably easier to win the lotto than forecasting a few results in L2 this season Crazy

Pinstickers for today - Rotherham, Gills and Crawley.
Report Foinavon • October 24, 2026 6:56 PM BST
Two wins from 3 ensured a profitable day. Some surprises, a supercharged first half for Chesterfield put the game beyond Crewe and Accrington scored 5 away from home. An extra time equaliser by Oldham against 10 man Barnet has left Salford who were without a game today, well clear at the top. wins for Cheltenham and York kept them in contention.
Report Foinavon • October 26, 2026 4:07 PM GMT
I'm looking forward to tonight's clash between Walsall and Salford City at the Bescott. Salford are going like a train whereas Walsall are extremely resilient and haven't lost in the league this season. They are especially strong when playing at home. Draw or win for Salford perhaps but I can't call it. Maybe the sensible bet would be Salford on the draw no bet market but 1.63 is too short to tempt me for an away team. No bet for me at this stage but might be tempted in-play.
Good luck if you decide to play.
Report DixieDean60 • October 26, 2026 10:38 PM GMT
A very entertaining game tonight, Salford emerging 4-2 victors after initially being pegged back from 2-0 up by home side Walsall, who tasted defeat for the first time this season. Salford have now won seven on the spin and are looking different gravy to the rest of the division at the moment.

Barnet take on York tomorrow night in what should be another decent game, i expect to see a few goals.
Report Foinavon • October 26, 2026 11:42 PM GMT
I enjoyed the game too Dixie. It's how football should be played with lots of energy and attacking action without the penalty area play acting that we see in so many high level games. Walsall never gave up but the better team won on the night.
Report Foinavon • October 27, 2026 10:16 AM GMT
Another interesting encounter tonight made more difficult to assess by Barnet's recent lapses in form.
I give more importance to York's record of having earned 17 of their 20 points so far at home and for that reason think that Barnet will prevail. 2.14 looks a fair price for the home side. Neither side keeps a clean sheet very often so overs and BTTS are highly probable but the price for both is meagre.
Report the bairn • October 27, 2026 7:44 PM GMT
i've bet Barnet for the 3rd home game in a row, not win tonight I will personally go down there and whisper in the players ears, something. cheers.
Report Foinavon • October 27, 2026 9:47 PM GMT
Third time lucky, the Bairn, well done.
Not the same class as the game last night and York will feel aggrieved by the sending off but Barnet keep up the pressure on Salford.
Report DixieDean60 • October 27, 2026 10:01 PM GMT
A workmanlike win for Barnet but they had the lions share of possession and chances so deserved winners imo.

Tshimanga notched another goal, good news for my 12/1 top scorer bet as he is 2 clear now but very early days still Grin

Not such good news for my League 1 top scorer bet on Nakhi Wells (50/1) as he went off injured before half time in Luton's win tonight Sad
Report Foinavon • October 28, 2026 2:41 PM GMT
Looking through the fixtures for this weekend there could be quite a few draws again. It could be worth keeping faith with Accrington Stanley (v Northampton). Colu look to be in trouble and I can't see them getting any joy from Walsall. I'll look again at the prices nearer the time but will probably back both Stanley and Walsall. Any news about Colu Dixie?

thanks Foinavon, was sweating for a while, I used to go to all the Sottish minor leagues, it was easy to cover all the teams within 90 minutes drive, you could get an edge on the bookies, obviously they just priced up on league position, so I had an edge on them, was profitable but covid goosed it up and now i'm too lazy to go, if possible maybe you could try the same, been betting horses which is the most stupidist thing I ever did, anyone with half a brain cell knows Greyhound racing is the best way of making an income. good luck son. cheers.

You were right to specialise, the bairn, for me it used to be Test cricket. Now I just bet for fun on English league 2. Many years ago I was a regular at Hall Green GS but the stadium has long gone, replaced by houses now. This little bit of entertainment will be gone soon too so I wish you luck in all you do.

Maidstone was my local track Foin, had some great nights there from the late 70s through the 80s. Was also Maidstone Utd's ground of course, until Jim Thompson sold it and it became a shopping centre Sad

A similar fate for Rochester, Canterbury, Ramsgate and then Crayford. Only Sittingbourne left in my county now, very sad.

Regarding Colchester, their problem is goal scoring with just 11 in 12 games so far. But they have had a lot of injuries and can't be judged too harshly, Jack Payne is one of their better midfielders and he also got an injury to his ankle a couple of weeks ago, hopefully he will be back for them shortly though.
Report Foinavon • October 28, 2026 11:21 PM GMT
Thanks for the update Dixie. It's a shame as they should be in the top half of the table. Maybe they will recover when they get over the injury problem. The dogs used to be a great night out with the lads during the 1980s and 90s, beer and burgers and sometimes a posh meal in the restaurant upstairs.
Report Foinavon • October 30, 2026 10:44 AM GMT
Newport host Chesterfield tonight. I won't be rushing in to back the visitors at the current price (1.82) as Newport are tough to beat at home this season. However they don't win many and this fixture has draw written all over it. Not sure if I will play though, perhaps save the ammo for tomorrow.
