Staggering anyone pays for it listening to the drivel from the likes of Keane, Neville etc... but also add in that this is what passes as punditry

infected by social media trash

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMhmYiVH2R0

Top 10 PL strikers.....by the end they have 7 English players on the board and somehow with the single digit number of brain cells in the room think Jermain Defoe, Robbie Fowler, Jamie Vardy and Andy Cole are better than Luis Suarez Crazy

I'm lucky I can tune out the drivel but I agree there should be a commentary free option.

I think another problem is theyve tried to go American excitement in their commentary as well, over the top of my god type reactions and it's cringeworthy out of our accents. The Americans can pull it off as it's just their natural personality and their accents make it feel natural.

"Rising like the Undertaker at the far post.. his first score in 17 games"

Happy

Brilliant, over the top but they pull it off

British female screeching "Absolutely incredible, the greatest of all time" nah.. doesn't do it does it.

a few years ago there was a commentary free crowd only option which I always selected; don't know why they got shut as mute is poor but sometimes inevitable.

Euros port used to do that.

Not sure how it works in football these days
with all of the obscenities and could you choose
home crowd or away crowd or library setting for Arsenal fans?

What really winds me up on all TV football coverage is; when the game is in play and the cameras go onto either a player or a manager or a supporter; it is only a matter of time before they miss a goal all because the cameras aren't following the game

Close ups of people singing in the crowd should be banned.... at football and at concerts. Nauseating

It already has happened a few times. I cannot understand why they choose to show us something we have already seen rather than what is actually happening at the time. If the ball is in play then no replays should ever be shown.

Totally agree sparrow; the people who are in charge of which cameras to use clearly are not football fans

A great shout BB...annoys the bits off me...happens in F1 when in rare moments of excitement they 'have' to cut to the cameras showing the team principle or mechanics, other hangers on long before it's clear if a rare bit of lively action has even finished...

virtually no one that watches sport wants those shots ahead of live action and yet still it happens week in week out...

Sky use the slogan 'it's only live once'. As said above why then are they showing replays of incidents when the ball is in play after all it's only live once.

Also close ups of managers waving their arms, writing a note while the ball is in play, just stop please.

i hate it when a team concede a second or 3rd and camera pans desperately for fans heading for exit, mostly just a handful and going to bog

Ball is only in play 60 mins out of 100 of live broadcast.

Should be simple to show other stuff whilst ball is out of play.

Its the best league in the world !!

Last week two fecking morons get sent off for Spurs against a Chelsea side so stupid they couldnt understand how to beat a high line with only 9 men.  But despite that Carragher and co were screaming how "thats why this is the best league in the world !!"

Then we see two of the worst defensive displays by "top" teams anywhere in Europe with Chelsea 4 - 4 Man City.  Idiotic defending , players sliding in giving away daft penalties , Cucerella throwing Haaland to the floor etc... and still they shout from the rooftops  "THATS WHY THIS IS THE GREATEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD !!!"

Laughable...

would certainly accept some of the OTT talk about it gets a bit tiresome...but not sure which league you'd prefer to watch currently for entertainment...

so will ask what the preferred league or leagues are of those that don't think it merits the tag ?

league football across Europe is largely finished.

Italian, French, German and Spanish football is a shadow of what they used to be.

prem is crap but better than all the other **** coz it has the oil and other money

money has ruined football is the moral of the story

Football is so much better now than it
was watching in 70s and 80s.

The talent in EPL is amazing, however it got there.

The money was always skewing football with liverpool
and man utd being the richest.

Go further back and it was Newcastle and Sunderland

Hey ho, would be great if all teams could spend same money

But rich teams stopped that with ffp rules...

Didn't work, nice try.

everything is relative tiger.

my statement was about what the big European leagues used to be (apart from the French)compared to what they are now.

the money is in the EPL and that's why they are dominate. If as a footballer you want top dollar you go the prem. There are a few exceptions like PSG but they play in a **** league and there is no competition.

The Spanish, Germans and Italians have fallen a long way behind.

They simply cannot compete with the power and money of the EPL. its pretty obvious that all the commercially minded  or major rich want to be associated with the prem

aye it was Brentford and if you remember they dominated in the pre sky era and they has channel 4 showing them to us on Sunday afternoons

famous footballers went to Italy in those days including gazza etc.

they all come here now

like bellingham, mbappe and neymar? some top class come here, more the decent to good players.not many superstars in their prime
By:

the ones you cite 19 are the top top earners playing for the so called richest clubs

in order of your selections my comments are:

Bellingham - English anyway and went for the best deal at the time fair play -could have easily gone to a prem club

mbappe- already overpaid by PSG and highly unlikely to come to England when warmer climates are available

Neymar - totally up his own arse and wd never come over here.

you point is not a good one for the reasons outlined

The only so called "great" that has come to the prem in the last, well perhaps ever was Ronaldo and that's only because he already had a history here and was on the decline when he came back, players may become great whilst here and then hot foot it to Spain.

As big as the Prem is, Barcelona and primarily Real Madrid has always and will always be the place that renders players hearts all a quiver.

Good point Duffy.

But Haaland was hottest property and he came

Certainly not many Ballon d'or winners moved here
but that has been rather dominated by 2 men for
a generation.

Not many EPL teams can guarantee champs league
like Real and Barca and PSG and Bayern.

real and barca have been bailed out a few times for hundreds of millions by the spanish govt.they deem the revenue they bring to the country worth it.you could say they are state funded i suppose.
