Seems absurd to me that the extra Champion's League places are being determined by a formula including the minor competitions. I suppose the co efficent has always done that but there hardly seems any different weighting for performance in the CL and the 3rd division trophy. Italy's has an extra Champion's League spot in the bag when all their teams are out already this year. While England & Germany have 2 each remaining and Spain has 3!

We would still have 8 places, apparently, but will put the better
teams into the top comp. And less in lower ones.

Other teams will benefit from being at right level.

It's odd, in ways, but there is some logic there
as lots of euro teams won't want liverpool or the like
