Was actually a win but felt like the worst defeat ever. Last game of season away to sunderland, united had to better city's result at home to QPR. Utd won 1-0 , city game was still going on and QPR had been leading 2-0 when the pillock joey barton senselessly got sent off, city had got one back by the time Utd's game had finished, but then went on to turn their game round in injury time, won 3-2 and won the 2012 title on goal difference.

Mrs was ecstatic about the plaice money. England 1990 v Germany is about as tough a watch for me in football, I really loved that team. |

England v Germany 1996 and Argentina in 1998.
After that I got use to us failing and it became normal and them just a meh reaction. I think they effect you more as a kid because your still fresh to it and it believe or fall for the hype train. Southgate will never be forgiven by my 7 year old self, a weak bag of pi33, the state of that penalty and him looking like a bag of sick after missing it. The absolute pr!ck ruined my summer that year. |

Birmingham 2 Arsenal 2 - Feb 2008
Arsenal five points clear of Manure in Premiership. Third-minute horror tackle by Martin Taylor on Eduardo da Silva fractured his tibia and fibula, almost severing his foot off. Such a severe injury that Sky Sports television refused to show replays. Arsenal played 10 men for remainder of match, but players were clearly affected and far from fluent. Leading 1:2 until a 95th min penalty awarded after Stuart Parnaby dived over Gael Clichy (who didn't make contact and VAR would have overruled). Having lost their main striker, Emmanuel Adebayor was in the box seat, but didn't score in about 10 matches and a six point lead dissipated, which handed lucky old Man Utd waiting in the wings the title on the last day of the season. |

4 years ago .... 2-0 up in FA cup semi final v Watford .... 78th minute Watford (Deulofeu) score ... then last minute penalty equaliser.
Watford went on to win in extra time... the fact that they got thrashed 6-0 in final was no consolation. Loads more with my team and with England, and of course in bets that I didn't cover or cash out. But that Semi final is the most recent |

Thanks for the reply Steve
Good to see your team doing so well |

76 cup final would’ve been my 2nd pick but the following years win more that made up for it considering the opposition and what was at stake for them.

First season of the playoffs 86/7.
My team Oldham lost the first leg at Elland Road 1-0 , Keith Edwards 89mins. The second leg we went 2-0 up 2 minutes from time. 15 seconds later Keith Edwards scored making it 2-2 on aggregate. Leeds went through on away goals after extra time .....we finished 7 points above them in the league. It took the club 2 years to recover from the result.....me too. Note , Leeds did not get promoted. They drew 1-1 home and way with Charlton (3rd bottom in the old first division). Charlton won a 3rd game at a neutral venue. The only positive was ...after already giving away Dennis Irwin to us ....the next season they sold Andy Ritchie to us for peanuts.......the greatest player my club will ever have. |

Mine would have been derby redrob as I was to young to go to Wembley in 68 so beating derby was meaning I would go to Wembley for the first time.

2004 FA Cup semi, AFC v ManU.
Wenger left Henry on the bench v a weak ManU side, had the chance of 3 FA Cups in a row plus the chance of a treble. That match derailed both. |
|
By:
Wesdag Yeah that was a big mistake by Wenger, like most Arsenal fans hated that decision. We hit the bar in that semi before lucky old Man Utd went on to win 1:0, with a gifted final win against Milwall. Then a few days later the full strength Arsenal team went out to Chelsea in CL semi after conceding a late goal in the home tie after getting a 1:1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

F A Cup Final 1986. Everton 1 Liverpool 3. Spent my whole life up to then dreaming of beating them at Wembley in the FAC. 1-0 up HT. I left Liverpool 2 months later to live in London and do a proper, professional job which took over most of life. Still here. Never ever able to rekindle the daft, limitless enthusiasm I had had for footy for 25 years prior to that day, which, in retrospect, marked the end of my "youth", or at least the start of respectable middle-age. It was certainly a significant day in my life, not just for the result.

England losing to Italy, on pens, at home, in the final of the Euros, having gone 1-0 up very early on and then sat back and given Italy the freedom of Wembley. The comeback somehow was inevitable.
That one was really tough to take. Cwying! |

You see it a lot though, early goal can fook the scoring sides plan, they tend to sit off and defend far to early
|
|
By:
The team that concede it still have the whole game so if they dont do anything daft and keep to the plan of staying solid ,and working themselves into the game it can be a positive as the team leading 1-0 tend to sit deeper and deeper, and they start to get more panicky having led for so long without putting it to bed
Textbook example was the England Italy game |

Another one that comes to mind is when Man Utd beat Arsenal 2-1 in the FA Cup semi in 1999. It's the one where Giggs scores and takes his shirt off. Everyone was queuing up to suck Giggs's John Thomas afterwards. But nobody mentioned that Giggs was a substitute who came on at the hour mark. He scored well into extra time, running against tired players who had an extra hour's gametime in their legs. I still don't think the hype was deserved. At the time I absolutely loathed Man Utd and the Giggs-adoration did nothing to calm my condition. I was a teenager as well so football was a far greater preoccupation in my life than it does now as an adult.

By:
Maybe instead of sitting on the bench substitutes should be told to do laps of the pitch during the game to ensure they are as tired as the rest of the players when they come on
