Tim Vickery of Talksport and Ale Moreno of ESPN are the two I like to listen to most. When Vickery was on BBC at the 2014 World Cup, he was so informative and knowledgeable about his subject matter (South American football expert) whilst being enthusiastic without being over bearing, he made Rio and Shearer seem really amateurish with his fluent delivery.
Mark Ogden, what a boring dull bar steward he is, looks like he's never had a day of fun in his life, you can imagine him asking his wife to stay silent during sex so he can concentrate. Nedum Onuoha another tedious dullard. Can't stand anything about Danny Mills, his voice, his opinion, his boat race, nothing.
I liked Slaven Bilic a lot when he was during pundity, this one of my favourite moments https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl35773W7Aw

Did not appreciate that Lee Dixon is still stinking the place out, I thought he had been retired.
I hate his cynicism and bias, please don't give him an England game.

We had an OF game up here when StevieG was manager. Was about 9 or 10 real talking points over the referees handling of the game but the first thing he commented on after the match that Rangers won was he was disappointed with StevieGs handshake with Neil Lennon after the game. Said it wasn't sincere. I still laugh when I recall that.
Here it is in all its glory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhBuPNL4jxI

Rio Ferdinand is without doubt the worst pundit of them all - at the Euros last year there was a group with Germany, Portugal and France - before the tournament he was saying how crazy it was that one of them would be going out in the group stage. What our 'expert analyst' had forgotten to take into account was that 16 teams went through from 6 groups, and predictably, all 3 went through to the 2nd stage. An absolute buffoon.

Dull as dishwater. Master of the Bleedin' Obvious. Adds absolutely nothing any pub punter could not offer. The medium is TV. We can see what is happening. He offers no insight!

McCoist and Souness and Keane are good commentators so long as they are disinterested. McCoist on the Rangers v Eintracht final in May was awful: obviously biased. I don't need a pundit to "curate" the evidence on the pitch.

Souness c**k on in criticising the England manager for not hooking off Kane imo. Same happened with the Ecuador centre forward. Both players are probably bigger personalities than their respective managers and no doubt both will start next match, but they will not be fully effective. Poorly managed.

it isn't.

was a referenced quote, which you didn't get, the poster's name is FatherMaguire, my post was a quote from Father Ted, where he was accused of that, it's a famous well known scene, Kind Regards.

Don't like Roy Keane and never had. He always looks as if he is having to control his instincts to attack someone even when sitting down. At least ITV don't sound as rehearsed as the BBC ones do though.

How Keown gets the gig, God only knows. I know a lot of footballers are thick, but this bloke thinks the country is called Argentinia.
Joe Cole hasn't been too bad on BT. How Keown gets the gig, God only knows. I know a lot of footballers are thick, but this bloke thinks the country is called Argentinia.
Richards has to be the worst,,, man is a total clown, shearer is a total borefest, jenas is annoying.
Souness, Keane and Ian Wright, interseting informative and head and shoulders above the rest.
I love women but all of them are total carp on football

I haven't listened to a single word of pre /half time / post game 'punditry'.
Game is put on at kick off , turned off at half time and full time.
These people have no more insight than anybody who has played football or merely watched the sport and half of them are box ticking .....which it is not yet mandatory to have to listen to.

I like who it was that giggled when it was mentioned that some players had caught a cold because of the air condition system in the stadium, I think it was Eniola Aluko.

Like Keane cuz he speaks his mind. Micah just laughs at everything and is only there to tick a box. Ferdinand is thick as s***. The rest are bang average. Enjoyed listening to Klinsman

What's Drogba doing there? Ivory Coast didn't qualify! Roy Keane gets a gig because he's a regular pundit, and he offers something, I suppose. A bit of controversy or whatever. But (I might be mistaken) you don't normally see pundits from countries that are not at the World Cup, do you?? Pundits are superfluous, to my mind. They offer little or nothing to enhance my enjoyment of the football. Far too many cliches and platitudes. And most of them use a lot of made up jargon to disguise their lack of insight.

Drogba is there to talk about the African teams i presume ,and think hes doing ok ,myself ,at least we know he knows what hes talking about having been a top top player ,unlike some of the women pundits whom ,lets be honest ,few of us have ever seen kick a ball .

I had to laugh the other day ... Graeme Souness was talking about the times he played against Maradona and Zico ... Eni Aluko (ex Lioness) was talking about playing in her back garden

The film industry has the Razzies, for terrible cinematic performances.. I think its about time we had the Betfaris.. Awards voted for by forumites on the worst people in the world of football...
Here would be my selections...
Worst Pundit - Steve MacManaman.. for such a supposed intelligent individual, the tripe he comes out with... Worst Commentator - Darren Fletcher BT Sport. Horrible man. Worst Footballer in a lead role - Gareth Bale, Worst Footballer in a supporting role - Aaron Ramsey. Worst Manager - Herr Flick of ze Chermans. Worst International team - Belgium. Worst Club team - FC Barcelona. Worst Owner - Andrea Agnelli. Nuff said. The Greg Louganis Award for biggest diver - Harry kane. The Diego Simeone Award for best piece of OutHousery seen on a football pitch 2022 - Phil foden v Atleti in the UCL quarters. Suckered Savic into a pointless foul, rolled about leading to a 22 man brawl and wiped off about 5 mins from the clock. City won 1-0. Award for '90 minutes of my life I will never get back' goes to - Uruguay 0-0 South Korea.

None of them. They are all (over) paid to over egg the product. It's money for old rope. Lineker probably the worst as he has made a fortune out of it.
Things have got several degrees worse with the constant box ticking - both pundits and commentators.

Posted this before - Barcelona Champions League Match - Messi injured - Jamie " great chance for Barca to show they are not a one-man team". Six players of one the greatest teams of all time - Spain = Euro '08, World Cup '10, Euro '12 - all playing for Barca !!.
Forgot the Irish guys name until previous post - when spent a lot of time in Ireland for a couple of years Johnny Giles/ Eamon Dunphy were good - their HT analysis was about WHY a team was on top/playing badly. Came back and its about "was it offside, penalty etc" - that's not analysis, its only an opinion masquerading as an analysis
Though think its getting better - on BBC thought at half-time they pointed out how the Argies were getting numerical supremacy in midfield, whereas I thought we were going to go through was/wasnt a penalty routine. Pleasantly surprised.
Worst - Jamie Redknapp Posted this before - Barcelona Champions League Match - Messi injured - Jamie " great chance for Barca to show they are not a one-man team". Six players of one the greatest teams of all time - Spain = Euro '08, World Cu
Richard Dunne always looks like he's in distress, sitting on his hands, trying not to fart, with his face getting redder and redder desperately waiting for the commercial break. He's either very nervous or very shy.
Redknapp is the only pundit who after I've listened to him, I've ended up learning less than what I did to begin with.

Which channel, which Redknapp is this? Both bluffers. Harry in recent times coming on for transfer deadline day, hasn't heard of virtually all of the players but 'he's a good lad, a great player blah blah...' Money for old rope my old china.

Would be, no doubt, severely downvoted for saying Michael Owen is now underrated.
I've deliberately listened to him on BT, because of the constant slagging he was getting. Over the past 18 months he was obviously hurt/told to up his game and it has become clear he puts the hours in and does his prep homework.
I despaired of Rio Ferdinand and at times Alan Shearer over the World Cup. They seem to be very settled and blase about their roles at the top of the punditry tree and, at times, gave the impression they seemed to be on a Middle-East holiday.
Lineker does seem to put in the prep hours.

He has to. As a presenter, he'd have to attend production meetings which the others most likely wouldn't.

He is actually good. He was spot on about Man Utd saying the club was more interested in playing a system to cover their weaknesses rather than playing a winning system and weed out the weak players who can't keep up.
