Lee I've seen Springsteen only once, July 4th 1985 at Wembley. I didn't know any of his songs but just went along as there was a spare ticket in our group and thought what the hell. I really enjoyed it and it's up there with the best live act I've ever seen. He really rocked the place that night most definitely.

Must admit not placed heavy metal amongst my listening priorities recently but one has to respect any music genre that can turn a classic like Sounds of Silence into this absolute masterpiece.

Apparently there is a roadhouse or pub or bar that Springsteen visits once a year after a particular concert in the U.S.  A mate of mine who has spent tens and tens of thousands of pounds following him all over the world arranged to attend that gig then stay back at the pub/bar/hostelry to see and chat with his hero. With everyone else of course - it wasn't exclusive to the bold Bobby.  For whatever reason Springsteen couldn't make it and sent word to the place.  My mate then went to the expense of extending his stay and changing his flights so as to see him the next day.  Eventually, on the next day, he could wait no longer and had to head off to make his re-arranged flight.
He learned later that Springsteen had arrived/appeared fifteen minutes later.

i flew to new york with a friend to see him in 2016. We had tickets for MSG, he was due to play The River album in full. They got a massive snow storm and the gig was cancelled. I thought about extending the trip and trying to score tickets for a later night but it was all too risky and expensive and difficult with work, so flew home as planned. To say I was disappointed is quite an understatement Grin

I would venture to suggest that very few of the tunes mentioned could strictly be classified as genuine rock records. Popular music records yes-genuine rock & roll as defined by the term's originator Alan Freed -NO!

Agreed Mr Sparrow, but I just thought I'd point this out. Like a Rolling Stone was one of the first Bob Dylan recordings that broke away from his poetic folksy past. Nazareth -This Flight tonight is pretty good. In fact, most pure rock & roll tunes can be played on 3 chords on the guitar. Summertime Blues, Come on everybody, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock are all the same with possibly a little transposing. It's amazing how many tunes one can play on the guitar if one knows the chords C, Amin, F & G. I hope this enhances my fellow forumites understanding of popular music.
