Anyone grew up in the early seventies, certain tracks just transport you right back. Aside from the obvious, much repeated, great songs by the likes of David Bowie, Simon and Garfunkel, Don Maclean etc. Certain types of music and certain songs have the power to send a shiver down your spine, or bring a tear to your eye.

Here's a couple that you might or might not remember.

I've always loved the sound of the flute, can't think of any other instrument as redolent of the early 70's, you don't hear it so much these days, other than in orchestras, which is a shame

"Winter in America" by Gil Scott Heron
and
"Chicago Damn" by Bobbi Humphrey.

Two of my favourites

Which relatively little-known songs conjure up magic memories for you?

whoever woke up and thought"must buy that new lulu(or dana or cliff) album today

Most of Lulu's songs were very poor but she was a decent singer as this record proved.  No comparison with Cliff or Dana but people just pick on her silly name and make cheap remarks.
