i've given up the sports subscription. been meaning to for ages and this was the final push i needed. it hasn't felt like good value for a long time. now i'll have to start looking into other ways to stream it again

Why would anybody want to watch a bunch of chancers in the 21st Century to get latest scores when one can virtually watch every game live on the internet?

it was relaxing filler on a Saturday afternoon, lots of people like the banter and updates on a variety of matches but it went massively downhill when they got rid of all bar Merson and Stelling and this is the end, for me anyway. I was already wavering, as I often work weekends, so not even able to watch as often as I used to.

The figures will drop big time, but they don't care, all about ticking boxes, talent and work ethic are secondary considerations nowadays.

Viewing figs will fall even more once JS leaves. Some customers will cancel contracts. Less viewers equals less advertising equals less readies for Sky.
So when does box ticking become overshadowed by loss of revenue? |

He was never gonna stay long after his mates got the boot. As for all the talk of a woman taking over, wouldn't be the biggest ever shock but I would be surprised tbh. Probably go to the chap who has done midweek last few seasons. Competent enough but truly the end of an era.

I hadn't seen that before MJK, what a top man Jeff is and whoever it is that gets the job it will be a Herculean task to get anywhere near as good as he has been over the last 25 years or so.

to be fair the show has been going downhill for 2/3 years at least,rinse and repeat week after week,went from been a magazine amusing pub chat for 2 hrs pre match to taking themselves a bit seriously and rubbishing managers/players/var etc and when you saw the highlights/pics later proved he and the panel were the mugs not those they,d been taking the pish out of

It's essentially a radio show on tv, televised for the sole purpose of Sky showing ads. You don't need anything visual at all from the format.
20 years ago it was fine but the model is outdated and looks very cornball when compared to something like NFL Redzone. |

The beauty of Stelling was that he was a proper fan, he knew the lower leagues really well. They don't need to appoint a name, they need someone who knows footy, and has a bit of personality. Little or no chance of this happening obviously

Might as well get Julian Warren to do it as he handles the midweek shows ok, doesn't need a 'personality' or a change. Or give Nicholas, Thompson and Tissier their jobs back and keep Stelling.

I wouldn`t think his mates sacking has anything to do with him leaving. If it had, he would have resigned immediately when they lost their jobs. He`s a survivalist. Maybe been offered a better paid job somewhere. Maybe with Skybet as their main propagandist.

I agree and I respect him so much for not throwing the toys out of the pram at the time and carrying on. He has given it a go and I wish him the best of luck. A great presenter.
