Okay, I posted a thread yesterday about this free bet. So this morning I checked my Betfair account and it said I had (at that moment) 3 days and 20 hours to place the bet. So I checked tomorrow's football matches and decided to put £5.00 on Man City to win against Southampton. And then? The £5.00 was deducted from my main account? Hang on, I thought this was a free bet, so why is Betfair taking the money out of my main account?
Perhaps you made a mistake using it. When placing the bet you need to indicate if you want to use the free bet or not, otherwise it'll remain a standard bet out of your account.

Aspro, it says on the screen 'Free Bet' so I pressed this button and placed the bet. Something not quite right about this. I mean I've been on Betfair for 15 years!! Having said that, this is the first time I've used the 'free bet' optio.

I've had 3 or 4 over this past month or two. You register and in the top right hand corner of your exchange screen (on a PC that is) there should be showing 'Exchange Bonus' with £5.00 next to it. When you come to place a bet (on the exchange only I believe) you put in the amount you want to bet and underneath there should be an option to use the bonus. That's how mine works but if you're using a mobile then I have no clue as I never use them.

The fiver free bet is not included in the return as stake so your free bet would return 80p before commission given the current 1.16 odds. Just in case you weren't aware of that of course.

Will get back to you guys tomorrow afternoon after the match. If Man City will, I shall check my 'profit and loss' account.!! Thanks for your comments!!

I've done that many times (OP) I'm sure they deliberately make it a little complicated just to catch us idiots.. It's a free fiver and you have to use it or lose it (no brainer).. on sportsbook there's a tab that has to be checked, use free bet.

Back at 100 and your free bet is worth £4.95 as long as the 100 is the correct price(ie it's 110 to lay.
Bad mistake using free bet on short prices. Man City is 1.16 if won you would have got 80p.If you back at 2 your free bet is worth £2.50.Back at 100 and your free bet is worth £4.95 as long as the 100 is the correct price(ie it's 110 to lay.
Why would you put a free 5 quid bet on heavy odds on when you don't get the stake back. I had one myself earlier, you have to click your email to opt in/access it
