Delighted we won but the disgrace was VAR not getting involved and rubber stamping the refs mistake in giving a pen for a blatant dive, what is the point of VAR when everyone who watches the reply can clearly see there was no foul and a blatant cheating dive by Sterling, i can understand the ref giving it as he gets one view in real time and can be easily deceived but VAR ?

Just about every player in every team cheats these days.

It's a fact - from appealing for every throw-in, goal-kick, corner, free-kick, foul etc to time-wasting and feigning injury when they know damn well

the decision should be for the other side.(a real bugbear is when a player goes down holding his face and a replay clearly shows his face wasn't

touched at all) Players are also encouraged to employ these dodgy tactics - they call it being street-wise.

It's the reason I rarely watch "big time" football these days. Prefer watching non-league games live where the majority of players get stuck in and give 100% (and the standard is surprisingly good) and they get paid very little.

Not a pen but the stonewaller earlier wasn't overturned either. Best team won. Move on.

For most of the tw4ts on here who have never played the game or have played as forwards not backs. If you are running alongside someone at full pelt and you touch any part of their body it unbalances them and often leads to a fall or a slowing down. If you can touch their boots or ankle they go straight over , if your knee touches their knee it has the same effect. As a defender it is a most useful tactic "outside the box" for it can be carried out without an easily seen trip , i have lost count of the number of pundits calling "soft" penalties when a player appears not to have been touched and allegedly "dived". A camera at every angle would not pick up this trickery which often happens two strides before the actual fall.

There are other parts of the body that are targetted by players ,usually defenders who are aware of their opponents recent injuries before they go out on the pitch. Sometimes others do it , Vinny Jones obviously on Gasgoines nuts, fashanue chopped big defenders across the neck when jumping for a ball, there was an ejit at palace who never wore shin pads until he broke his leg,

Most of the above only takes place because rule changes happen after the event.

Most people claiming it was cheating are just bitter and twisted or have agenda's against " The Kneeler ". You know the one who they said shouldn't be in the team prior to the Tournament and has proved to be OUR best player by far.
