cant believe this contact extension, extension for what ?? to keep doing the same thing. he even looks mr negative, as dull as dishwater and tact to match. rather lose going all out than what he brings. get rid..
By:
Yer if he gets an extension after we lose tonight, it's an absolute disgrace.
By:
fake team news, it's what Southgate wants Germany to think.
By:
I do hope so Scandy. Negativity at its finest.
By:
Except they were right the last 3 times with their team news and it's the same journos, they clearly have inside sources.
By:
Fake team news is the type of 'tactical' level Southgate is at but at the same time he seems to be incredibly cautious and one of those managers who concentrates more on negating the opposition than playing the best football his players can.
But it might be the best course of action for him because he can't seem to get the best out of his attacking players or use the likes of Grealish, Foden and Kane effectively. |
By:
It might just be they can read him like a book. After playing Grealish in both friendlies it wasn't hard to guess he wasn't going to start the first game and with qualification secured it probably wasn't hard to figure out he'd get a game, but leaving Mount out would be a strange one for me.
By:
I doubt it's they can read him like a book. No-one in the country would have called Saka starting last game, yet they knew the morning of the game. You could only know that with inside information.
By:
on paper england look the better team
home advantage I think england hav been more unlucky than played badly so far 2-1 win |
By:
it's ok in the groups, keep the journos happy to get a good press, but this is Germany in the knockouts, really going to give away his team news 25 hours in advance, doubt it
By:
Excuse my ignorance, but aren't the press around during training sessions? Perhaps they put two and two together with Saka.
By:
By:
A wag, or one of the players' hairstylists?
By:
it's all a rouse, Southgate knows team info leaks, knows training sessions are watched, leading everyone down a garden path - possibly, not for definite
By:
You may well be right n88uk, but like a few others on here, I'm not yet convinced.
By:
hopefully there will be plenty of FAT KN0BHEADS throwing their pints of corona lager tonight.......

By:
Low will prob just make a tactical change after 5 mins if Southgate tries to pull a fast one and be like 'your move Gareth'.
By:
People are giving Southgate too much credit if they think he can fake the opposition leaking fake team news. We will defo play 5 at the back.
By:
He'd have played 5 anyway i'd imagine given Germany's full backs
By:
yeah
By:
Under 2.5 is 1.85, looks a reasonable price to me. Get to say 30/35 minutes goalless and trade.
By:
Southgate is no tactical genius

By:
Im hoping they ignore Southgate and Holland and just go and play...
By:
IF THEY IGNORED THEM THE MAJORITY OF players wouldnt be able to find their way out of the dressing room

We will defo play 5 at the back. It might be 10 at the back. ![]() The shopping is done, about 500,000 calories bought. Let the buii5hit begin, followed by the game. |
By:
Plenty of hangers on to point them to the pitch 1st time poster
By:
This will be the 5th time we've met in a championship match since 1966... The score so far is 4-0 to Germany...
![]() |
By:
To be fair nearly all of them have been close bar 2010 (4-1) and even that one we had the Lampard ghost goal which would have made it 2-2 going into HT
England are slow and predictable under Southgate though |
By:
I think we need for England to behind early, only way we're going to see them have a go imo.
By:
ffs! for England to GO behind even.

I have little doubt we will win this.
A very average german team will not be able to handle our attackers. A final appearance is the very least this team should manage. soft half of the draw - Germany , Ukraine , Sweden , Denmark , Czech Republic .....you could not ask for an easier set of possibles. Spain - very poor defence Italy - beat up a lot of poor teams Belguim - De Bruyne and Hazard serious doubts Switzerland - wish our players had their patriotic run through a brick wall mentality. |
By:
The Germans don't see this as a rivalry like the English do. They see England as a team they want to meet because their record is so good against them. To them Holland is their real local derby and the Italians are their real historic rivals in Europe.
By:
Don't see how anyone can have 'little doubt' England are going to perform, never mind their attackers. What are you basing that on? Names and reputations rather than how they actually play together? Because it can't be based on actual recent performances.
By:
sky reporter seemed pretty sure Gareth will go with 3 at the back
By:
how hot is it going to be for this?
By:
If history teaches us anything ... the Euro records
Germany: 1,2,1,5,3,2,1,15,12,2,3,4 England: 3,6,7,7,3,11,5,5,12 England had 5 "did not qualify for the Euros", Germany 1 |
By:
this game will come down to tactics, Portugal boss was clueless as to how Germany would play, Southgate at least will be prepared for their overloading wing backs, I think it'll be a tight game but predict 2-0 England, but yes would not surprise me either way.
Btw, Roy Keane, anyone else notice how passionate he talks about England, he gets so angry and in to it you'd think he was an English supporter, I actually think he secretly is. |
By:
Roy Keane just cannot fathom how so many good players can play so poorly and is obviously perplexed by that.

By:
Roy Keane grew up supporting Spurs
