Umm. I think some of you missed the fairly easy chances that Croatia blazed over the crossbar. On balance England deserved to win but a better striker would have helped themselves to those chances.

though I think he'll be lucky not to get a yellow on foul count with other refs..at least they didn't play him as a genuine second holding player which in the end led to his quality involvement in the goal

I watch all of the United games and tend to look at the top teams games too so with Leeds being a mid table side I only would have really seen them play United.

Good result.  England hustled, harried, never let the Croats settle comfortably on the ball.  Rice was excellent, as were Philips and Mount.  Defence is still a major issue and they learned nothing today because Croatia barely attacked at all.  Well done Scrotes, they beat the Croats.

Croatia didn't offer much at all with Modric for the most part just sitting in front of the defence. That isn't going to hurt anyone.

The plus point is that so far nobody has looked that good. The easy wins have come against teams who have been dreadful.
