VAR? its supposed to remove clangers MischiefMischief

As usual its gone missing when a clanger happens

Artificial controversy as per usual with it

Problem with var....

Then, now, we ain't got a clue why

He may have got it right, but nobody knows why,

Simply not acceptable.
Report Des Pond February 27, 2021 3:55 PM GMT
Very poor, but It's made me ton and a half, so, not complaining.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- February 27, 2021 3:56 PM GMT
Saw loads of var in the cricket, see it in the rugby

And they tell you what's going on, what they are
looking at, and why the decision has been given.

Football fudges it, and covers up to suit agenda after.
Report tony6499 February 27, 2021 3:57 PM GMT
The ball was in the net by the time he whistled a 2nd time, both Mason and Hooper should be sacked for that
Report SontaranStratagem February 27, 2021 4:04 PM GMT
Var should be getting involved and telling him no sorry you blew and its a goal

West Broms players should have the moral decency to let Brighton score after that shambles anyway, but with the money involved morals go out the window
Report DirkDiggler February 27, 2021 4:05 PM GMT
A new low for EPL refereeing and VAR, of course come Monday and ref watch, the stooge ref they have on will be telling us the ref was correct and VAR worked perfectly...(i've no skin in the game either)

A complete and utter farce.
Report moisok February 27, 2021 4:23 PM GMT
Another excellent use of VAR  - I love it -   brilliant system -

Brighton miss 2 pens, absolutely pathetic for a "top" division team.

Report GoBallistic February 27, 2021 4:45 PM GMT
Did he think Welbeck kicked it twice ?
Report Des Pond February 27, 2021 4:55 PM GMT
If it hit the post and came out to Wellbeck he isn't allowed to hit it again, unless the keeper or another player touches it first.

I really want Brighton to be relegated, I am sick to the back teeth of listening to all these fooking expected goals anoraks (and guardiola) telling us how good Potter and the team areCrazy
Report swiftynifty February 27, 2021 5:02 PM GMT
Des, ye, a stupid rule change i'd forgotten about, so correct decision. But obviously a new rule is ref's whistle noise must have stopped echoing around the empty stadium before a free-kick can be taken.

Make it up as they go, the original offside rule was an attacker in the box not in line with the defenders?

Now its pretty much up to the halfway line CrazyLaughLaugh

Its absolutely pathetic, but its done on purpose to create "controversy", we seriously need to bin the elites version of the game and re-create our own Plain

Report roache February 27, 2021 6:27 PM GMT
I think Mr Mason will be confined to my home town of Bolton come the next round of EPL fixtures with some gardening leave as that was a complete and utter shambles of his own making and making matters far worse by reversing his decision to originanlly not allow the goal by awarding the goal to Brighton  then reversing that after VAR got involved Shocked then VAR state the goal was cancelled because on the 2nd whistle the ball had not entered the goals well from what i saw that was totally wrong as IMO the ball has already crossed the line a moment before the 2nd whistle.
Report geordie1956 February 27, 2021 6:32 PM GMT
if referees are allowed to whistle (a 2nd time) to overturn an original whistle where will it end ... madness

Not forgetting with all the stop/start/stop again, the game was nearly as long as an nfl match
Report Whisperingdeath February 28, 2021 11:10 AM GMT
It is a stupid rule.

Why should the defence get the advantage of holding up play, getting all their players back and building a wall after they have committed a foul disadvantaging the attacking team?
Report loui February 28, 2021 11:24 AM GMT
Quick free kick chances ar usually allowed by the better standard refs, when I played a good ref would tell both sides before ko that he'd try and let the game flow, allow quick free kicks etc. And tell the goalies to be aware of this.

Lee Mason is feigning injury now Laugh
Report swiftynifty February 28, 2021 12:50 PM GMT
Cameras everywhere, pundits galore and VAR, are all highlighting just how many mistakes refs and linesmen make in a match. BUT, we used to accept it, admittedly we didn't know about most of them(like the fingernail offsides etc), and moved on. All the post match talk on every game is now about right/wrong decisions and not about the football. A disaster for genuine football fans. Is it too late to go back?
Report Whisperingdeath February 28, 2021 1:06 PM GMT
Very true and most of these “ experts “ don’t even ‘ know the laws of the game!
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- February 28, 2021 1:10 PM GMT
Ref made a mistake, and somehow managed to correct himself.

Had he allowed the goal, it would then be ruled out for offside.

To be fair i was at the game and it was the first time in a while where it felt like there was an atmosphere and not completely sterile due to the lack of fans.
That free kick incident lit up the whole stadium and granted there were only about 30-40 of us in the press box but it was great. Both benches going nuts, Players kicking off,  the commentators arguing as to why it was/wasn't a goal. It was almost like being a proper match day experience :)
