Forums were so much better before the killer report button was added, thhe good old days of the internet before the kill joys and idiots looking to be offended took over

Sofa. Cracking full back he transformed us when brought in and utilised properly by Cooper, Im sure Conte will coach him on as well although he be slowly phased in in at Spurs? It would have been nice to get him but once Spurs came in we had no chance, its not even the money in regards to this one he wants to go back to London.

one of the funniest days in here was when someone opened an account calling dawsy a bender and he blew upi remember the day we could all change usernames too, someone changed their name to betfair community manager 2 and started replying to threads, with a monkey as the profile pic lol.

It was a laugh and most treated it as “banter” even the ones blowing up who after calming down probably saw the funny side.

As I said above the report button killed forums, once they were introduced anyone could use that function and it stopped all the fun sadly

Aka

A lot just got bored, the forums are like grave yards now

The ones still reasonably populated your met with ridiculous rules like “sexism not tolerated” “racism will not be tolerated” etc, so anyone can interprat it as such and then “report”.. plus most forums are heavily moderated which is utterly ridiculous. The youtube chat for example the amout of mods is totally ridiculous. Giving power for people to ban others is asking for trouble.

Not much imagination required if you want to guess on why me and (I would assume) others have been absent.

Though if there was a bingo card of excuses I'd probably have a full house.

2018 i think it was, sadly if i was making fortunes gambling id have carried on and i would guess its the reason most of the names in this thread are goners.

some fun times were had and some incredible wins in the good times.  my last run on betfair i recall was doing some automated dog racing bets that started out crazy profitable but ended as you would imagine, i returned to gambling during the first lockdown in 2020 when the dog racing was the last man standing for a few weeks.

i hope alls well on here?

thanks, we did have some good times.

this forum and the romanticised golden era was a product of wider internet conditions forcing all the right people into the right place at the right time.  youll find old **** like me in their late 30s all over the internet that recall a golden era online (there was an earlier one of course) between 2002-2012 where the internet became popular enough that communities in even the most niche areas could grow large enough to perpetually sustain themselves no matter how obscure a topic they were built around was and they thus filled a social roll for users that wouldnt be challenged until the big centralised hubs like reddit, twitter, facebook, youtube etc grew later to take over.

there was once a time that music forums had thousands of active members, hiking forums, fishing forums, fashion forums, pet grooming forums and everything else, now those communities are all just parts of larger websites and theyre a hell of a lot **** for it.

Yeah. Got a share in a dog again at last (doing pretty well), going to the races again and doing ok betting wise. Got out of the in running game as PC killed me. Use this for the forum now as PC still stands even if I wanna bet bsp or owt else and I haven't used it in ages. Still, can still get on elsewhere and like I said doing ok. Uresen?

Nice one.  Its a shame the PC thing is still around somehow, you would think by now theyd have come up with a better system (if one is needed at all even?).

Besides the return to greyhound betting in 2020, I havent done anything outside of the ultimate casual gambler passtime of betting on the biggest sporting events and none of it has been with any expectation of making money.

I have tried to get into a bunch of other things over the years and the closest I came to finding something even remotely close to sitting through hours of MLS or Peruvian Cup matches every night that somewhat stuck was financial trading, which in the end has become very boring, formulaic but profitable.

Theres obviously a lot I miss about being a regular on here but sadly betfair always hated us, the steps they took to hide the forum in 2012 and the long long period of not allowing new accounts had its intended outcome.

I recently started using smarkets and I find them OK, also their customer service much better than betfair. They are not perfect by any means but any problems are quickly rectified.
