FWIW, I find it very difficult to watch any Liverpool match on TV at home as well. On the occasions I have been in that situation, I tend to listen on the radio and try and do something else at the same time. This was also one of the underlying reasons for me cancelling my Sky in early March when they tried to almost double the subscription to £56/month. To stop my Sky approaching circa £1k/year, I cancel every couple of years, until they entice me to go back again.

Ordinarily, and until the Covid-19 restrictions, this would not have affected me at all............. I am lucky enough to be at Anfield for league and European fixtures and am usually down the pub watching the away games with mates, neither of which I have done since March though I have joined up with friends to watch a few matches including when were were finally presented withe the premier League trophy.

I personally think Sky is moving forward and these decision had to be made. Those that feel Sky is moving away from what they want are correct, they are moving into a new era and taking the majority of their subscribers and supporters with them. Those who are no long comfortable with their position on BLM/LGBQT/Gender Equality etc will be left behind.

The soccer saturday magic had to end at some point, it had been gradually declining as the novelty wore off and needed a fresh boost. The likes of Micah Richards and Clinton Morrison have huge followings, you may not think so because you are probably in a bubble of denial about the role of women or people of colour in the industry, but its true.

Are you one of these people who conflate social media with real life? Absolutely nothing wrong with Sky or any commercial organisation freshening something up. All I suggest most people ask for, certainly me is that decisions aren't based on immutable characteristics and identity, but ability and talent. Since Comcast have taken over it seems to me that their political agenda is a priority over commercial considerations. Let's see if the changes they make are based on ability or identity.

With prime time or high rating shows, you really need to have top ex-player pundits, and especially should not be mixing them with ex players who were way below their level, too awkward viewing, so if the new panel has Merson who was a top player and won league titles, then he should be sitting alongside others of the same ability, otherwise one will be relaying his experience of winning titles/cups and the other will have to draw on some relegation scrap. Problem is if Sky are cost cutting, then lower level players will have to do, also don't think Merson could  have the same banter with Matt Murray, Kevin Kilbane and the like, would be a whole different show not worth watching.

Clinton Morrison unfortunately for him and I did give him a chance, is not a good pundit, does not have good diction, doesn't have the experience, really a journeyman forward who didn't score that much.

So if you want to put in place pundits of different backgrounds/races, you then have the likes of Sol Campbell, who although fits the criteria of being a winner/genuinely great defender, is very aloof, quiet and doesn't really do matey banter, Ian Wright would be perfect on that show, imo. I actually think ratings would go up if he joined, also has the ready made rapport with Merson ex teammate.

Actually think David James could be good value, a bit odd but think he'd be good, though didn't win much. Still high profile ex player who played many times for England.

I doubt a single person on this forum cares what colour a presenter on sky sports is - what matters is whether they can do the job both in terms of knowledge regarding the game and possess character traits which enable them to bring entertaining interactions to the viewers screen.

When people obsess about diversity quotas, they create a problem which doesn't exist for the vast majority of people and do far more damage than a sky sports panel that may not have enough ethnic minority faces on it. The notion that " positive discrimination" is fair where you are only hiring people based on skin tone to "balance the numbers" subsequently failing to hire someone because they may be white is just as racist as someone black not getting hired. The idea that in a sport where a disproportionally high number of footballers are black that a sky sports panel with " too many white faces" promote or encourage racism is so ridiculous that it encourages people to leave an organisation with these views which seems determined to hog headlines crying wolf looking for attention when most see it for the sh1t it is. It isn't the job of sky to bang drums for any organisation, it's their job to exist in a meritocratic environment reporting on what people sign up for .. sport instead of last year where they spent hours discussing some kid chucked out of a non league game who may/may not have made racist noises on the day the league title was being decided.

The box ticking exercise will just go one way and it won't be their profits going up. One of the main issues is the people with the agenda are getting confused between criticism and racism.

Clinton Morrison is useless, as said on here Don Goodman is excellent. Michelle Owen is also excellent, yet Michael Owen was well (make your own mind up).
